Was with the kids at the Santa Parade in Henderson yesterday. Road blocks in place, traffic at a standstill etc so one very clever scooter rider thought they'd mount the footpath and ride down it trying to get through the road block via the footpath. I was horrified to say the least as there were parents, kids and prams everywhere. Not impressed you bloody idiot!

It does seem a bit crowded in the pic but... I haven't ridden a scooter on the footpath to ride around a road closure since ummm last Thursday?
You don't buy a moped to sit and wait, you buy a car for that.

I went through just b4 the road closed on a blue scoot forgetting the parade was on. Its a strange feeling riding past a big crowd but a few kids waved.
I would drop a note to the plod, the Heshe will only get a letter but unless some someone corrects them then they will blindly carry on as if its normal.

Living in England (in Devon at the time) our friend had the door of their car taken out by a granny on a mobility cart. He could do nothing as he had one baby in his arms and his todler still in the car seat, the granny went between him and the car collecting the door at the same time. The police knew who it was as she had already broken another peds leg in a previous collision (and don't tell me she did not know what she was doing the mobility cart was already in the workshop having the front fixed up when the police went to speak to her!) ... think what this idiot could do on a scooter riding along a foot path full of little kids looking at the road waiting for Santa:shit: he / she is a total moron:crazy:

So if I understand your core premise correctly:
"Do it if you can get away with it"
Is that about it?
Motorcyclists bitch about their ACC levies, being targeted by police, etc. And then go ahead and condone riding on the fucking footpath while kids are at the Santa Parade. Fucking genius.

OK! Next time you break down and get tired of pushing your bike and roll it on a hill on the footpath I be sure to call the police.
I think a nanny state full of police informants is far worst then any ACC levies could be.
BTW I was driving though Henderson and was lane slitting though the traffic wanna call that in while your at it? ( Might have been a poor innocent helpless baby in one of those huge SUVs.)

Surprisingly I get some of what Dorko was trying to say. And many of us here have no doubt bent the rules just that little bit. The problem that I had with the actions of the scooter rider was that, at that particular time and in that particular situation it was a very stupid call to make. And thank goodness no little ones got hurt as a result of her actions. However had it gone the other way just think of the field day the media and police would have had because of the stupid actions of one.

Dam children? Like water babies?
I'm figuring you're just trolling, because I can honestly not believe that anybody is that dense. This brick on my desk would have understood the concept of responsibility, associated risk and appropriate place and time by now.
Would you take a firearm into a public location with children and open fire then blame other people when they are hit?
After all, they should have taught their "dam" children to duck when they hear guns.

Bullshit! It is basic respect. A small child (watched by it's parents) rode their bike into my Mum. She could have been hurt. That is wrong, as is riding a scooter on the footpath and risking injury to others.
People need to show a bit of respect to others and parents need to teach their kids, otherwise they grow up into the kind of loser that rides a scooter on the footpath.

Isn't it the other way? If she is a witch she will float and so must be burned at the stake - if she is not a witch then she will drown........
either way not a good outcome.
