Speedway sidecar swinger needed!
My husband's swinger has been henpecked by his missus into giving up speedway - anyone on KB wanting to swing on a Speedway sidecar? Meetings and practices at Rosebank Speedway in Avondale, Auckland and the odd trip to Kihikihi, Waikaraka, Huntly.

A shame to hear of another henpicked male having to give up his passion to keep the missus happy.
Goodluck in finding a replacement swinger and hopefully you find 1 without a henpicked missus.

Thanks - unbelievable huh? why do people let their partners dictate what they can or cannot do?

The swinger part is to balance the bike around the corners - very hard to explain - have a look on Utube and type in NZ speedway sidecars - look at the videos will show you what the swinger does (guy on the back of the bike)

watch the second clip - the swinger is in the wrong place - this is the same thing that happened to my husband when his son was in the wrong position (except the bike landed on my husband's chest and cracked his sternum)

Eeesh, pain and suffering in that second one. I can see where they hit the balance point, the bike just starts moving wrong...
Still think it looks like epic fun...

Yes, I am sure it is - and surely far more dangerous :shit: My husband had said he wanted to try road/asphalt or whatever you would call it sidecars - I am glad he got over that phase!

Lot longer races for a start and more moving around, we might do a 10 lapper and be on track for 25-30 minutes, compared to speedway which is all over in the time we do one lap
Pig is 130kg and 6ft 3inches and swings on one down here and a lot of that is belly and he does ok
and surely far more dangerous :shit: !
I would doubt that, just different not more dangerous

Yes, dirt sidecars do 4 laps - all over in a few minutes, and they go clockwise.

Oh just hanging around with your mate:facepalm:
A friend of mine decided he'd have a go at swinging, at his first meeting they ran over a fallen swinger & killed him. That was the beginning, middle & end of his career as a swinger.:shit:

Yes, like all motor sports there are risks - I try not to think about it too much - he did this sport before I met him and I have no right to ask him to give it up (though he said he would if I wanted him to).
Hey a man has gotta have a hobby right?
