Why don't we have an IRC server? It would be great to idle on and organize events ect.

You could always build one and host it somewhere?
Or even buy a hosted (http://www.darkstarllc.com/services/other/irc-hosting/) solution (http://www.risingnet.net/shell-account/ircd-shell-account.html).
