Did anyone else see Biker Plod with a camcorder (yes a camcorder complete with flip out screen) this morning just after the Auckland harbour bridge filming myself and other bikers coming in off the left lane..? Wonder what all that was about? I have a feeling the far left lane is 'bus only' but I use it everyday with no issues until this morning. He snapped me and a couple others so now I'm wondering if a fine is heading my way.....

I wondered what he was doing, camera footage will be interesting then (late for work).

Was he facing the camera towrds traffic on a tripod , or following the bike so he could catch the plate?

Actualy Plod or Council "Plastic Badge"?

I know the council film bus lanes in the city to stop errant bastard cagers using them....

Nah he was holding it and filming us approaching and passing so he would have caught the plates...

Definitely a policeman - lucky I just sorted wof and reg, fine won't be quite so big.

I've noticed a lot more bikes commuting this summer so far, even "traffic jams" there with 4-5 bikes trying to merge in. Guess the bear has been woken up.

Ha ha nah this was 'Actual Plod' - His bike was parked up on the shoulder with him. I see the 'Plastic Badges' with their cameras and tripods on Onewa Rd although that's fine because it's a transit lane which we can use.
It was just before 8am.

The signage for the section after Shelly Beach Road have been up the spout since they started digging up the road. The revolving one over the motorway used to say 'Buses Only' until 9:30 as I recall but has been 'Lane Ends 300m' or some such for a long time. Also the signs with the bus only times are way off to the left beyond the concrete divider so surely apply to the new bus lane they are building over there, not the left hand lane [ahem].

But seriously, if I get pinged I reckon it's worth disputing as the signs ARE contradictory and confusing... Unless the overhead one has been fixed now, maybe.

I'll keep an eye this morning. Thanks for the heads up.

They're after cagers, aren't they? (Ref: NZ Herald (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10692811))

I didn't know T2 lanes were for bicycles to enter the MOTORWAY as well!?!
I suppose a bicycle would be faster some mornings.

Well done Katherine Irvine the NZ Herald for helping keep NZ safe and well informed.
Remember "safer community's together"

"Mr Lambourne said drivers using the T2 lanes on motorway on-ramps to avoid queuing at ramp signals was also an issue. The T2 lanes are reserved for vehicles with two or more passengers - and in most cases, bicycles, taxis, emergency vehicles and motorcycles as well."

I stuck the camera on and filmed the signage on the way through this morning (first crossing this week for me) and will have a look at it tonight for details. I did notice the revolving sign still reads "Lane Ends 400m" not "Buses Only", though.

But is the overhead sign a bit back from the Shelly Beach Rd exit that says "Bus Lane Ahead' or similar new? Or have I been failing to notice it for a while? It looked fresh to me.

Well, I can see why its a bike cop... not a lot of space to put a patrol car safely...

Checked the video.

There's no new sign, it's just that they have turned the first revolving sign (before Shlly Beach Road exit) to say "Shelly Beach Road and Bus Lane Only" again, like it used to up to 9:30. It said summat else for a while. (Presumably whatever it says after 9:30 now; I must be going senile as I can't remember.)

The second revolving sign (right by the exit) still just says 'Lane Ends 400m', not 'Bus Only'.

And the other static sign past that point 'Bus Lane 6:30 - 9:30 Buses Only' is the far side of the concrete divider and clearly nothing to do with the lane I use, officer.

I'd definitely query a ticket on the grounds of inconsitent signage.
