View Full Version : Auckland: Weekday/shiftworking biker rides in the Supercity?

Toaster

IN the super city.... i.e. the greater Auckland region!

Just interested to see if there are other riders out there that, because of shiftwork etc, have time to do social rides during the weekdays now and then.

I always have 4 days off after my shift pattern ends. Would be good to find others that have weekdays free for social rides.

Must do Pukekohe and Hampton Downs sometime too......:scooter:

I sure am free a lot of the time...now the question is, what service do you work in to have 4 days off? Cause I work 4 on 4 off :)

Prohibited from mentioning it. 10 day cycle with last 4 days off.

4 on/4 off happens to our 10-hr shift people. I have weirdass days on/off due to shiftwork myself.

I'd like to do more rides, but I'm a noob... <_<

Great solution for ones noobness is to ride as often as you can. Any plans to purchase a two wheeled weapon?

I'm currently borrowing my boyfriend's bike while he's at sea. I'm riding it as often as possible (it has been joked that since my car is living at his place now, and I should start paying rent). He'll be getting his 6F soon, at which point he's planning on getting a bigger bike, and I get Scorpio. I loves the Scorp, she is a neat bike.

However, if I win Lotto any time soon, there will definitely be a bike on the wishlist...

Yep, but we cant wish our lives away on lotto or the remote chance of winning it. Life is short, get stuck in and make it happen.

Plently of sensible riders out there happy to pootle along at a sensible pace to help you get your skills up.

Yeah I normally have a few weekdays off.

@Toaster: I just had a look at your profile,do you own all those bikes??:gob:

Nice..... just use this or new meetings threads to post up auckland rides on days off.

I will post one or two rides up once I get time off. Basically anyone wanna come for a ride and coffee feel free. Everyone else just be encouraged to do the same.

Best policy is give eachother a few days notice of impending rides/ldeas and we can sort them out for those available to ride. :scooter:

Okay so for those free and available how about Monday 10th Jan? Mid morning ride somewhere northern or an evening ride from 7pm.

Toaster

Yep,I'm free on monday.

Okay hows this for a first draft idea:

Monday 10 January ride, say mid morning from BP Dairy flat and head out off the main track and grab a coffee/beer or something Warkworth way or so....

SH1 Dairy Flat BP
SH17 Caltex
Kahikatea Flat Road
SH16 Kaukapakapa
Woodcocks Road
Warkworth - cafe by the bridge?
Any which way south....

Everyone welcome. Own pace ride but I tend to keep it at "cruise" pace and leave the missle part for track events.

Meet 10am BP Dairy Flat SH1 in the carpark under shade if we can find it. Take off at 1030am.

Completely flexible on the plan and time if needed.

Keen on doing different rides each time, north south etc... I am keen on Coro loop sometime too.

0212510017 if needed.

I'm one of that semi useless student bunch so have many days off but I'm always looking for an excuse to jump out and ride. I'm sure I would probably learn more off you lot than my tutors anyway :2thumbsup

Dude I changed my shifts last night to two 5pm starts today and tomorrow to cover another chap who needed a swap. Will still be around Tues late morning for a blat. At the rider training day on Friday and hoping to make the CHCH ride this Sat if I can get a leave pass. Can't leave poor Di with the kids all the time.

Had a VTR1000F Firestorm back in 2004. Not a bad bike but didn't really like its vibration in a sports style bike. That was more suited the the M109R. I preferred the smoothness of the in-line 4 bikes in sports configuration.
