Ducklings don't cause crashes on motorways, wankers who can't drive do. Me, I don't risk inattentive drivers rear ending me should I stop, I just roll on over them.

I stop for ducks and ducklings, but it's not a bad idea to hit the hazard lights at the same time as you stop.

'Cause in most cases they'd be wrong.

And relax, dude, it's just Darwin at work, nothing to see...

I stopped for ducks on the way to work this morning in the work cage - there was nobody behind me for at least 400 metres and no, it wasn't the motorway. I'd probably not stop on the bike though - fark that!.

Exactly - how often do you see people taking stupid evasive action that puts themselves and others at risk over an animal?

I've hit ducklings on my bike and in the car. On the bike I had nowhere to go (mid corner and oncoming car). In the car I avoided mum and most of the kids but unfortunately got the straggler.

Same goes for cats, dogs etc - don't want to hit them either but they're softer than a car or truck.

Yep, it's like that bloody stupid AA insurance ad on TV where the dumbass driver swerves and bins her car....to avoid a rabbit of all things - a noxious pest!
There are so many wrong factors with that ad (starting with the AA....) that it beggars belief.

Every time that ad is on I tell my Daughter: "hit the rabbit".

Goddam stupid ad training the wrong move.

Hang on a minute... I've got no problem with people stopping for animals; I wouldn't take a sheep on with my bike for example.

What I do have a problem with is the wankers that crash into people who've stopped, for whatever reason. If one of us on our bike has to stop because the person in front has, and it does happen, then we should be able to stop without some ignorant retard driving into the back of us.

Good point, been there too...

i have no problem with people stopping or slowing - in safety - for animals.

just don't do it for the bloody flying lawnmowers called ducks....

There's a major problem on the main roads west of ChCh with ducks as there are water races alongside. If I had a dollar for every near miss I've seen caused by people dodging bloody ducks I'd be able to afford a road bike....

There used to be something in the road code about not stopping for small animals because it was unsafe. Some hippy animal humping lefty must have got it taken out.

Well then, I'll just say next time I've stopped to touch up my makeup (in the middle of the road) rather than to not run over da widdle fwuffy wabbit.

Seriously though, regardless of what the reason I had to stop for I wouldn't expect some person to run up my roomy derriere simply because they hadn't been driving according to what they could see on the road.

You should have seen the results of hitting a duck in a WRX while bouncing the speed limiter.
