I have a Mikuni 36mm BTM carb that was attacked by a Kiwi/s. Now I had a quick look and find it my be incorrectly assembled...especially if you find a spring just lying there... Screws been raped open so they look like pop rivets...you know the typical wannbe mechanic that finds a screw driver and "becomes" a 25year experience qualified mechanic the next day.

Its not THAT bad, but I would like to get the carb cleaned and checked "properly". Looking for a real mechanic with time "working form home" as most bike shops are fully booked till next xmas and "dont have time or cant help". I'm in Mt Roskill.
I like people that have skills age 50+ doing it as a "hobby" and have time. Find me THAT person and I shout you $100 cash for Xmas!

Yeah, those Mikuni carbs are pretty complicated, no chance you could get off your lazy arse and have a crack at it yourself... I mean, given your level of disdain for people that turn screws into pop rivets, surely a man of your talents would be able to work a screwdriver correctly :rolleyes:

I am giving it a crack, will fit it tonight, hope for the best. In the long run I plan to upgrade to a proper FCR, maybe take the one that on my TTR. I also want to get a round $200 std 36mm and stick it in there. time = money. I have money but ya cant buy time!

Dont really want to pay $800+ for a new carb seeing the warrior was 1000 and I just spent 500 on std exhaust. So I know not to be disappointed in getting nothing or bad feedback. Not giving up. There is always HOPE.

Well, seeing as your sitting in a little bit of limbo at the moment, maybe take some pictures and seeing if someone can tell you how to reassemble it. Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that. Carbs are dead simple, there can't be much wrong with it. If your camera has a 'macro mode', use that.

Was it doing something specific wrong?

Mate I think you're alienating most of the people who could help you... you don't need to be over 50 with 25 year's experience to strip a Mikuni carb down. I'm only 31 and I can do it :gob:

Get yourself a parts diagram and/or manual and do it yourself, it's not that hard at all.

Step 1) Go to wreckers
Step 2) Buy second hand carb
Step 3) Fit second hand carb and throw other in bin

Open throttle no power just bog down, ghurrr. Low to Med is fine. If only I coud find another 36mm carb. Wreckers cant help.
I have disassemble and fitted std main jet. Air screw to 2 turns, was on 5. Strangely No noticeable change. Maybe not carb but plug? valves? coil? Maybe close my eyes and buy a Raptor!

If it is a CV type carb check the diaphragm for holes
