Could be keen, but I'd have to look in my ancient archives to find and reload it again ;)
At the moment I'm a tad hooked on Guild Wars :niceone:

Prosper was great, remember only 7 or so connections could be active at anyone time, used to wait for hours for someone to log off so I could join.

what you can do. is download the demo (www.idsoftware.com) and fuhquake (http://www.fuhquake.net/) and that will work ACE. total about 80mb I think.
of course not a 56k event

For real old skool, get four of you together and hook up an IPX/SPX Netware LAN over coax cable.
After playing a lot of abandonware before leaving my last job, I have to agree with Jim2. After the retro excitement dies down, you'll find the interface clunky, the graphics dull and blocky and be mildy disappointed.
What am I saying? Sod that, I'm in. When and where?

battlefield 2, battlefield 2, that's all I bloody hear from people at the moment.
I'm still trying to get through Doom3!
Hey pyrocam - there's no problem with connecting to the server off a mac is there?
I should fire up the G4 in MacOs9 (damn I'll have to load a pure OS9 OS onto it), load Quake 1 and hook up...
Quake 3 is more fun...

Last time I played this was on a k6-2 380mhz laptop with 2mb video. Maximum graphics settings of course :D Musta been 2-3 years now.
I 'think' I have an install lying around with KQP etc etc but 'damn I'm keen' :D
Just revived doom1 with my mate, best fun to be had (none of this newfangled x800xt super fps pixel shading dx9 hl2/doom3 stuff).
One day it was 'old school' time, I bought CNC red alert and the aftermath? off trademe for $10.. mint condition etc :niceone: sure was a birthday to remember.

I used to spend AGES online (in SA, where you have to PAY per minute of online time to the telephone company, as well as your ISP.... ) playing Action Quake (2 I think). I loved the realism like head shots and stomach shots being fatal. Leg shots could be bandaged, different weapons were effective in different ways....... ahh

Yeah I played action quake hardout for a couple of years :O

Doom 3 has awesome sound, graphics and gameplay, yet was oddly repetitive and slow going. Not even close to enough monsters to deal with at once and too many enclosed spaces. Multiplayer was unfortunately a big flop. After the nostalgia died, it was just plain ordinary. Quite frankly, I was disappointed with iD's effort.
Is there an RA or CTF for D3 yet?
When I download Quake and log on to Pyro's server, pheaR mY m4d l33t haX0|2 Qu4D d4|\/|4%3 sk!llz. Or not, as the case may be. Let the scores speak for themselves...

Counterstrike is one awesome game. I used to spend days on end playing online. This was back when it was Beta versions. So many dynamics and realistic weapons.
I was ussually a terrorist and had many successful bombings. AK47 was gun of choice. Used to like ruffing up the hostages as well by shotting the life almost out of them then putting them near a door so the good guys could finish them off.
Would like to get back into it but it's to addictive and time consumming.

Hey BTW what would your ALIAS be during those days... coz i was just like that as well... played like a psycho during the GOOD OLD DAYS.
Man there were some freaking good times - esp when that speaker thing came out. LOL I remember the first night...at around 12 AM people on the server were basically gathering around each other (CTS and Ts) and them one of them SINGS loud and everyone cracks up at his mouth movement... it was bloody realistic....
BTW my nck was "wildmunkee"

"Does anyone here have access to Quake, Doom, Castle Wolfenstein, and a whole raft of other pointless PC / Xbox / Nintendo / PS2 games, but never play them?"
Yes. I do. (Or is that, "No, I don't" ? "Yes, I don't", I think...)
