I will be down in Wellington for christmas this year and staying for about 10 days.

If Any of you lower north lads are going to be around over the Christmas / new year period and are keen to get out for a ride or 2 i would love to tag along.

I have been into the Mungatooks and Odlins Rd but would not mind doing them again.
Also done Sutherlands Hutt but could even be convinced to give CNUT hill a go, would have to put my small C/S sprocket on first though.

So what are you slackers up to MarkS - Eddie - JMJ - Andymac....... ??????

I shud be around. I'm pretty close to the Ak's...not too keen for CNUT myself. I's out there hunting the other day and f*ck it looks steep...can't believe I even attempted it.

PM me your plans when you're here and I'll see if I can fit in with ya.

hi bart..was thinking along the lines of a homewood forest around urity point beach. and then up over the pac spure out castlehill, which work in your favor if we started from masterton..

I think you guys should head out to castlepoint tomorrow morning as the forecast is great....

take your cameras

"Rain, with heavy falls about the Tararua Range, turning to showers in the afternoon. Gale northerlies, possibly gusting 150 km/h in exposed places until midday, turning southwest in the afternoon and easing in the evening."

Forecast is good for Thursday in the rapa

what about a Makiro-Akitio-something-something loop on Thursday?

I may be able to sneak away for a day on Thursday....

Sounds good to me. I really need to get in a bit of shed time before another ride. My front brake is real shithouse (even with new pads). :shit: Lost the rubber mount thing for the tank also, so need to come up with a cunning plan.

Thursday works for me. :woohoo:

..

winds and the swell will be going the wrong way....its best to catch the waves braking over the reef after the storm passes... but i might pop out in the afternoon...

Yeah, but a dead end at Owahanga Station. Not much to see unless you get access through the station (which the 'bros' are very particular about). I don't think you can even get to the beach without permission. I haven't been in there for a very long time .

I've got a small 'technical' section in mind that none of you guys have done before. Could be worth a look.

you are nuts

maybe over the weekend I'd be keen to ride from Karapoti up to the top of the Rock Garden on the KLR. Its certainly an 'interesting' ride but great fun on a bigger bike

same level of difficulty as Odlins Rd

interested?

Yep should be good for it. Have a new stainless can on the bike all ready to get smashed and dented... It's not that bad going up that way - only a couple of spots of clay and a couple of slippery rock sections.

I'm also now officially on a budget so will tame the riding down a bit... Boo to single income...

Mate, I'm planning on heading out for a hunt tomorrow arvo...as long as this wind dies off, making the call at 12pm... so I think the timings will clash for the ride to be a goer for me. Cheers though.

great day out...... we went beach riding, started at the ferry pub, up the beach track... then around the ngawi and passed the light house to the locked gate at white rock, a return trip saw us stop at the DOC station to find the gates locked to the southerlands track... after a bit of thinking and little walk in the trees, we found a way in bypassing the locked gates,,,,:woohoo:.

up the southerlands track to the look out,you could see for miles and miles, fantastic clear day view was stunning, carried along the track and carefully down Cnut hill.,, ITS JUST AS NASTY COMING DOWN..:shit:. to the hutt and back out, stoped up at toppys for well earned cupper...

thanks mark to a great day out.
sorry no photos camera broke on the way..

Thanks for the excellent ride yesterday Joe.
Good to ride with another KBer who sees locked gates :innocent: more as a challenge and not a barrier.

Now i have seen CNUT hill i will be back to have a go at going up:facepalm: , with some off road gearing and a full Knobbly tyre though.
