That shit'll buff out..........

I wonder how come it was hot enough to melt all the alloy but the front tyre's still there?

Alloys melting temp is pretty low, plus steel/metals etc lose a lot of their tensile strength very quickly, which if you look you can see it has deformed rather than melted.

Edit, just saw the newer pics, and it has melted. Lots of reasons, my fire investigation skills are very limited.....and i'm too far off courses and fire science lessons to try and explain it well, but basically the alloy would likely have been more vulnerable to the heat from convection than the rubber.

God that's a real bummer. But to be philosophical you have lost things that can be replaced, take comfort that you still have the people you love around you.

Here's to a better future!

And he can re-build an awesome garage. Of-course all of his tools were top quality too and will need to be replaced!

That's not pleasant, so glad the family was fine...still, seeing that before your eyes really, it's gotta hurt. Nothing ever can replace the sentimental value of anything...each item that you've lost meant something to you.

All the best for a way cooler garage and a super next year!

Shite, that's a major setback and hassle at this time of year - but it's good news they saved your house. Tell us how you fare with the insurance company.

Recently someone broke thru my garage roller door (they only keep honest people out) and tried to steal my bike, failed so tried again the next night. AAI was excellent with the house & contents claim, and bike insurer is arranging repairs. Lesson learnt take digital photos of everything in your garage and home tomorrow because you won't have receipts or even be able to remember everything you own.

Big thanks to everyone for your support, we are very thankful that we noticed it when we did and saved the house and possibly us too.

The contents insurance is with AMI and my bike, they have been very good and fast to act on removing the garage car and bikes. At this stage the AMI investigator suspects it to be a Jump Start Pack that was on charge (One of those portable ones for your car) it was left on charge because it has a trickle charge option which should of stopped it from over charging... (less then 2 months old)

But we wont ever know for sure, but it is the most likely cause.

I removed what was left of the jump start pack after the fire was out and it was still sparking the next day...! Bloody thing wouldn't die..!

Bad start to the Christmas holidays but yes onwards and upwards.. rebuild with a better garage and hopefully replace with some better bikes depending on the market value...

Agreed...! While AMI have said they wont need receipts for the most of it, it is definitely worth while taking photos (before anything happens) and (after) of the inside of your garage to remember what was in there and add it to the list... I've been back through some older photos of cars in the garage and bikes and noticed things hanging in the background that we had forgot about... big job to remember everything.

Good to hear your ok! Bummer about everything thats gone, but youll get better new stuff now :) The insurance company im with (and happen to work for ;)) pay out the amount that you insure as long as the bike was 'in a reasonable well maintained condition". So mines insured for 5grand, something happens, as long as I had wof & reg, ill get 5grand :Punk:

Sorry to here that but glad you and family all alright. Close call that with it being so close to the house. :gob: Garage is eactly same as mine too.
Has just made me look and check the insurance docs to check i'm covered ! 7 bikes, lathe, tools and all the gear in my garage would be unthinkable if that went up in smoke. With all the paint, acetone, meths, petrol and volatile cans etc. in my garage it would be a pretty big explosion luckily my garage is about 10m from the house so at least no chance of that going up with it although neighbours would be prety close
Hope all works out an you get some decent bikes in the xmas sales!:sunny:
