View Full Version : Anyone with a mid-80s XT400 with a Ventura pack rack?

I'm picking a XT400 up from ashburton next month and I will ride it home......so will be taken the L brackets with me and the pack-rak of the Daytona and any spacers I need to make up, its a hitch and ride trip,So can some one tell me what the spacing is for the pack-rak frame where it slots into the L-brackets....dont want to buy another pack-rak frame

hmm, there's one parked downstairs at work but I'm not sure if it's teh same age or if it has a rack on it, I'll have a look.

Otherwise, I'm not sure if that age 400 and 600 were essentially the same bikes, the later ones were. You may be able to take measurements off a 600 as well.

Do you have a sample pic of the model?

The XT400 was the same as the XT550. The XT600 was a different beast altogether. Just wear a pack on your back or saddlebags or bungee cords.....

Or just use hose clamps to hold the Ventura rack on.

May not be a good idea but it can be done. Just ask UnderGround :D

Have now sorted the L brackets and have been told that the spacing for the rack is 278 and the daytona rak is 320 so with a small adjustment it will fit....yes have included Hose-clamps as a just incase measure.....

Thing is I have a heap off work gear I need to pick up on my way back through WGTN,
