WOF experts, what's the deal on these?

After seeing a set of these for sale on the TL site which i turned down i got a pm from another member with a set at a price i couldnt refuse so snapped it up,when i fitted an undertray that came with LEDS built in i had problems (at first re WOF) which was later resolved in my favour after the bike shop had a visit from whoevers in charge of WOFs.So whats the deal with headlight conversions?Its an oem surround with Hids,

Headlight beam needs to point to the left, stuff for the market that drives on the wrong side points the other way (ie, drive on the right, beam points right). Its to do with the reflector dish, imports often have the problem.

Other problem could be HID. Can't have HID lights in a non HID housing.

Has anyone actually said what the problem is, or are you asking prior to finding out the hard way?

Pretty much mate,fully aware after all the mucking about on the TL over the years how pedantic/ridiculous the WOF system is ie everything ive done works better than oem but still had problems if i can get an idea of what bullshit there objections will be i can modify it to suit.

just go to VTNZ they don't know a fucking thing about bikes and just pass you- nice and hassle free.

I thought VTNZs were quite strict on headlight aim with that height adjustable red box they use to check direction of the beam

how hard is it to change back??
have you got a good place to fit the ballasts?
ive seen 30w hids on a zx6 and mann they are bright!!

Not legal.

Whether or not you will get away with it is another question, but as soon as the WOffer notices that they are non standard he's going to get his pedantic streak running red hot, and is likely to check your bike over for other things a bit more carefully too!

Nope when I took my bike in for wof on a weekend(only time I could do it)the guy got me to hit dip and full beam against the wall.

The problem with HID's is they are on all the time ,with a motorized reflector that automatically adjusts the beam to low/high.If you put them in your old headlight, they are always going to be to bright.Some people have put them in the low beam headlight only(if your bike has seperate lenses)so they can still switch from low to high beam, but the problem is hid's take a few seconds to start up, not good when your blasting down a twisty road at night.So you can look cool with your hid lights and piss off on coming traffic, or stick with what your head lights were designed to use and have no problems.
