Hi all,
I will be moving to Christchurch from Canada in Feb and thought I'd get involved on the forum. Hope to get a bike shortly after I arrive and take advantage of the great riding down there. Cheers

Thanks! I followed the earthquake news pretty closely but it seems like things are going well. I have visited before and can't wait to go back, great country all around.

Canada eh? (had to put that out there)
Yes the people of christchurch are tough bastards. Most are just waiting for the EQC to sort their shit out.
There are some great rides in and around Christchurch and it is one of the best places to base yourself.
Have you ridden bikes before?? If so, what ones?

Thanks guys.
I've been riding about 6 years now and have had a few different bikes, started off with an old 1980 CB750 fixer upper, then got a Honda Fireblade and my last bike was a Kawasaki Ninja ZX10. I've done a cross Canada/US trip on a Kawasaki Z750S so I've had my fair share of hours in the saddle. Hoping to maybe find a nice Z750, SV650 or a Hornet 900 once I get down, but it all depends on what is available.

You should try a ride across NZ, alot of the time it wont even get you an hour in the saddle.
Welcome to KB and soon NZ.

Welcome to KB and Christchurch (when you arrive). Ok so the earthquake has destroyed some of our homes but it hasn't broken out spirits (even us imports). Most people are pretty supportive and have been very quick to help us homeless refugees out so you are moving to a good city!
There are some very nice rides around this area and some great bikers who are really helpful to newbies. If you like bike racing the National will be help at Ruapuna the local track 12/13th February if you are into that.
If you want any help etc from a fellow non-Kiwi just yell! Lily

And here was me thinking you'd warn him off the "Canterbury Rabble"
Welcome aboard and yell out when you get here. There'll still be plenty of rallies left to do after Feb.
