I simply mentioned diesel vehicles, I did not pack a tantrum as you are suggesting. Don't you have anything better to do, like a job or something like that, or do you get all your pleasure from twisting whatever I say just so it suits you? I'm only making an observation here.

$40 odd for the bike

$90 odd for the Hybrid

$145 for the Falcon

And not even a bite to eat..... Already looking at a second job, although selling my body wouldn't get much.

Sadly RUC ruins any real advantage.

Certainly tight financial times for the average wager and average kiwi familes.

Its so good being below average.

Gees - I must be far too fresh. The first time I was on the road and had to fill up I clearly remember it was $1.39.4 / litre for 91. I only remeber this as my ex partner turned up to pick me up from the airport, in my first ever car that had been delivered to our house whilst I was away, and the fuel light was on. Cheers ears - What a catch.

...and I remember being shocked when 91 went over 91 cents a litre...thought that was just way wrong, 91 should be 91 cents and 96 should be 96 cents, me, I'm simple! why can't pricing be simple too!

Heaps... and a few batteries along the way, unless its hooked up to a tender

Jesus, are you filling the Hornet with AVGas?!
 No, that fill was the KTM, 26L, I was worried that after 430km, the reserve light should have come on, so filled just in case. Was on the verge of reserve, still had another 4L.

Prices are funky.
Glen eden for 95 is 2.04 or something, and 98 in the nth shore is just bang on $2./L

Also, 13.5L in the GSF250 nets me just shy of 190k's.
14km/L, about the same as a ZX14 I've heard.

Sad, sad shit.

I've had a couple of fills over $40 lately and can remember complaining when it only took $20 to fill...

On the plus side I got 388km from a tank on the Connie the other day - I wish I could say that the VTR could get 288...(only 3L difference in tank size).

We went through Otara a while back and it was 10c a litre cheaper. Twice iv'e noticed that, it's almost like it's secretly subsidised.....which would'nt surprise me, I cannot think of any logical reason for it.

When you get one of those 20c off a litre vouchers from countdown it's like heaven. Bring empty car and fuel canisters to get 100L 20c off. Save $20 :p

Everytime you go to fuel station, pay with cash. And make sure when you fill you get the numbers to something like $20.34 and then you have to pay $20.30. 4 cents saved... loool, adds up everytime though. Especially if you fill up tiny amounts all the time. (Minimum fuel up = 2 Litres), so I do that quite often. I think my local gas station is starting to realise though, perfectly legal though :innocent:

If I'm using 2 litres per day, then I fill up 2 litres a day. Saving 4c a day. Granted it'll prob only save me $10 a year. But I'm a scrooge.

Gremlin
17th December 2010, 13:07
I've used in excess of 100L in a 24hr period, so hell no, I won't waste my time filling up with 2L. Fill to top, use until comfortably into reserve then fill again.

OPEC was asked to increase their production, but we're years past the peak output. Demand is increasingly dramatically, especially as China and India ramp up their consumption, but the oilfields are being drained faster than new sources can be found. To control demand, OPEC decided to up their prices: currently around US$89/barrel, and picked to hit $120 in the next two years. What's going to happen before oil gets so expensive private motor vehicles will become too expensive to run is that there'll be a cycle of: price goes up > demand drops off slightly > price stabilises > people get used to it > demand goes up > price goes up> demand drops slightly etc etc etc. Each cycle sees the relative price become much higher than the last, but it will take some time before it's so high that it makes a real difference to demand or until the world's oil-wasting habits chnage.

At best, it will be only 15 years before private vehicles become obsolete, unless something changes dramatically. It's crazy that in Yurp and Mrka oil is consumed for heating. It's also crazy that around the world so many cars on the road are 12-1500kg (or larger) single-occupant ones, travelling a short distance. Most of the fuel used is solely to move the car, not the occupant.
