for not displaying my warrant and rego. I approached the parking warden at the time and told him I have had my rego ripped off twice now so,.... I am just carrying them around in my pocket until I can find a more secure way of affixing it to the bike and he seemed sweet about it all ! didnt say he was going to ticket me, just exchanged pleasantries and we both toodled off.
Then today...... $200 fine in the mail. I understand the law, I know I have to have it displayed.... but why the fuck didnt he tell me that he was still going to ticket me at the time? He made it seem like he was ok about it........ and I thought, "what a nice guy" ...... now I'm thinking.... asshole.

Cos you would've sat there chewing his ear off for the next half an hour about what a crock of shit this is and how big of an asshole he is, thereby reducing his time to stick more pleasant surprises on other people's vehicles.
I agree though, asshole. If you're gonna fine somebody, at least do it honestly.
Unless it wasn't actually him, and some other warden pounced when you weren't around?

The key is that he never actually said he wouldn't give you a ticket.
It's all good though, that's an extra $200 towards "party central" for the world cup! :puke:

Write in and complain. Send a copy of your valid rego and wof asking WTF? Also send a photo of the bike with said documents attached with a "Should have gone to Specsavers" advert.

agreed, when you ring the council they useally let you off if you have a rego.

Write in and explain the previous issues you have had - blame the government for hiking up rego so much that a clearly displayed label is now worth nicking. In fact go as far as saying you have also written to LTSA regarding this and suggested that motorcycle labels are printed on a non removable self adhesive stock so they could not be easily stolen (ie they will rip).
As a side note I heard of a motorcyclist (in CHCH?) who got a ticket when his label was on his swingarm!

Photocopy the original ... colour copy .. and save the original in your wallet. Any cop doing a licence check (via their radio's) will KNOW your bike is legal ...
And a new label is free anyway. Just the hassle of getting one ...

if that wasn't enough. Rego renewel came in the same post...... so thats $200 + $528.70 = Xmas shopping at the warehouse this year

I wasn't sure if not having your rego on display was a infringement, but it seems it is.
I have mine under the seat,as my holder fell off ages ago!

Yes, if its valid, but you're not displaying it, then you can be fined.
I was showing a valid wof, still got fined. Let rip at council I did. Refused to write in, as it was their incompetence that caused the whole issue, emailed instead, and they waived the fine. Still didn't apologise tho.

An easy way to avoid the fines is to display your rego and warrant

 Don't be so sure... I have personal experience the buggers don't look very hard (mine was attached to the license plate, but on the back, and could be seen if you looked at the surround of the plate, from behind the bike).

your rego costs are so high that anyone requiring you to pay that amount would have the facilities for you to pay off weekly/fortnightly etc...
I ask you also request this as I will, and hopefully many others will also ring the wankers and tell them, because they are asking for so much money, we need the opportunity to pay it in installments.
as for the fine, good luck, i wrote a 2 page letter during my lunch hour, and all it got me was writers cramp and hunger pains. same deal, the guys were all smiles and made you feel at ease. as soon as you disappear they are ticketing you up, hard.

I have mine attached in the same way and had it checked by a lovely policeman the other day, he had no problem figuring out where it was. Must be a problem with the quality of personnel that Auckland City Council employ? :weird:

Yeah... what quality.
I was at the Manukau District Court for a work matter, on the work bike, during work time, with plenty of stuff to sort during the day. What really yanked my chain is that the guy could do a half arse job (or barely that) and then I had to spend over an hour of my time speaking to them, writing letters, taking pictures for proof of compliance etc, all because one idiot couldn't see the tag.
Yeah... wasn't happy... :2guns:

Invoice 'em for it. Make it a proper legal invoice.
Not sure how much inconvenience it'd cause them but there's provision in US law to support the restitution of costs associated with spurious local body compliance costs.
Worth a try?

As we are not yet the 51st state this is a useless piece of information, and would just waste more of your time and none of the councils.

So, dude, it's perfectly safe to ignore a commercial invoice, such as , say a parking ticket?

Hate to kill your sob story. But in 28 days time you'll get a letter saying you need to pay and that you have another 28 days to do so or you'll be charged a collection fee. That puts you somewhere in February. Also you don't have to pay a years rego at once, pay for three months if you can't afford to knock it out all at once. I prefer to do 3mths at a time as you never know what could happen, and you don't get a refund if your bike gets written off.
Over here in Aussie you have 28 days to pay (or challenge), thats it. Then they start doing things like doubling the fine amounts and that sort of thing. Also, car and bike rego are both $600/yr each... which is about $770NZD.

I got fined for failing to display registration in the car - the label had fallen out of the pocket and was laying in the passenger foot well. I explained the situation that I had a current rego but the they said the fine is for "failing to display" and that it was irrelevant whether or not I was registered.

yep punjarbi imigrants the only scum that will do such a shitty jobI have to agree why are we letting people into New Zealand to do these sort of jobs when unemploymet is so high? Back in the day you used to have to have some sort of skill or work in a specialised field to be able to live over here I certainly do not see writing out parking tickets as a specialised field. if unemployment is so high the New Zealanders on an unemployment benifit should be made to do this sort of work instead of bringing in unskilled people from foreign Countrys all this achives is making these people look like arsewipes to New Zealanders

when will you lot realize its not the immigrant that is legally entitled to live here AND is WORKING unlike a few whose grandfather may have paddled a canoe
its not the fault of Auckland city council
Nor the current government
though the above are not helping matters by wasting money on salaries , moving sheds and perk busting
it IS the fault of user pays and the methods employed by successive governments to try and keep the cost of borrowing down
and the fault of you and me for NOT getting of our arses to do anything about it
528 dollars is the price you pay for doing diddly squat.
pay up
Even the French , ( the little surrender monkeys ) get off their bums to say enough is enough
So , remember this fine , next time you see an advert for Mag, bronz or Grey power ,,, sign up and say enough is enough
or bugger off like I did , sod this I only have one life ,,,( unless I am a Krishna and am coming back as a goat and not the goat herder)
so Ill be damn if Ill push shit up hill , There are lots of Lovely places on this planet , I found mine !

These "people" are more than likely doing jobs that us "kiwis" feel are beneath us.
If I lost my job, I would do anything to earn money (except drugs or prostitution)

What's wrong with prostitution? It's honest, pays well and sometimes I'm sure they actually really enjoy it!

key word here being..... "sometimes" I doubt if they would enjoy it most of the time. I would imagine that rectum and/or vaginal prolapse from over-use is not very pleasant.

I hardly think that your typical police officer themselves really believes their job is honest.
Or did you have in mind the original sin itself, perhaps.

There is nothing wrong with it. I know it pays well - we have a few that get their teeth done where I work - they have a lot of money.

I did that once, accompanied with a photocopy of a dated copy of a registration payment receipt of course.
The fine got waived.
