First ride out for ages, and I got rammed / pushed by a middle aged cunt in a cage.
Toyota Corolla, early 1990's, bronze sort of shit colour - plate was OH9107 or YH0197 - some combination like that. Can someone do a carjam search - talking to the *555 people won't result in fuck all.
Fucker had a few attempts at me, but was too chicken shit to get his balding fat fucking ass out of his cage.

I mean come on now, you have the largest number of agro car driver incidents of any poster I've come across on KB, what is the common denominator here?

Holy moly and I thought what happened to me today was bad!
Some lady going in the opposite direction from me thought it would be a good idea to suddenly swerve across the road into MY lane, causing me to take evasive measures (brake, get out of the way sharpish, honk, swear, etc.)

If someone was deliberately trying to run you off the road, you need to report it to the cops properly, not just *555.

It sure seems to be the season for some absolute idiots on the road.
In Auckland myself at the moment - yesterday downtown, on a 3 laned road on one side I was beside a 4 wheel drive at 50km/h. Was not in her blind spot, I could see her, she could see me. She begins to push into my lane with me right beside her. I think right, she must be 100% blind and just hasn't seen me. Wrong. She looks over her shoulder (as she is already half in my lane), looks right at me, mouths some abuse at me, and continues to run me off the road. I had a car right behind me, a car in the lane on the other side of me and couldn't get in front of her. She missed me by inches and continued to mouth abuse at me. I was on my horn for a good while too. I was fine, stayed on the road, away from the other cars and upright. Sweet as.
I pulled up at the lights behind her. A car pulls up beside me and winds down their window. The man tells me he couldn't believe what he just saw and said he had called *555 and told them she tried to run me off the road, with her number plate.
Thanks to that friendly cager - he was genuinely concerned for me, and it was really nice of him to act on my behalf. A big fat stuff you to the silly tart in the 4 wheel drive who knew exactly what she was doing the whole time. It's people like this that get motorcyclist killed sometimes.

JR, you need to loosen your grip, holding onto your tiny dick that hard is blocking the blood flow to your brain.
Genie - ride with me, and then pass comment; until then, go help JR hold his dick.
Okay, I was filtering, not like a dick, but carefully and respectfully - basically peak hour traffic. Went to turn right into Maxwelton Drive, car pulled alongside, driver raging, and then swerved into me and hit me, bruises on leg and all. I jumped onto Maxwelton, and pulled over, thinking, maybe it was accidental, and the guy swerves at me again, hitting my with his mirror and brushing me. So I follow, he then starts to brake and reverse into me, so I jump ahead to Mairangi bay - he comes past, has another go - and then waits up the road for me to come past, but won't get out of his car.
So, tell me - what did I do to deserve that shit? I passed about 100 cars in traffic prior to him, none of the others had an issue.
Police need an actual rego plate.
I'm keen to find him to discuss the issue, and work it out in a positive way.

If all motorcycles were equipped like that then I think we would see an improvement in the way car drivers treat us - well, an improvement in the way that the surviving car drivers treat us anyway.

You guys clearly need to up your presense and intimidating factor. Use more black, a noisy bike, a handful of badges on the vest and perhaps a patch. (Loose the dayglow and that Postman Pat look) Mittens are also not the go as the midfinger salute needs to be available at short notice. Open face helmet with a skull face mask improves your survival odds too. Steel toe and heel boots are a brilliant way to leave your mark on un-cooperative cagers doors.
But the question that I would like an answer to is: How the fuck do they have time to do any of this? You watch the traffic and expect each one of them to do something stoopid. As a result you place your self so that whatever they do won't interfear with your riding. And you have the best avoidance tactic at the use of your right hand: A quick twist of the throttle and you should be long gone before they have time to complete any idiotic moves.

Yeah yeah yeah, tough words eh. This only makes us look like a bunch of lowlife fuckwits who will get treated in such fashion. Probably why the attitude of the subject of this thread.
Drivers don't see us and stupid mistakes often happen with us being on the receiving end. Thats life on a bike and we need to ride accordingly. If you can't handle that reality, then go drive a cage rather than lowering the rest of us to knuckle dragger status.

Most of your post I agree with, except the open face and skull mask - I don't want to be mistaken for an accountant trying to be badass`on his new Harley.
I get very, very few incidents where cars treat me with anything other than respect and courtesy and i put that down to riding a loud, largish black bike with black gear and a black helmet with a black visor. I had a guy try and move into my lane about 6 months ago and I punched his window - he swerved so hard back into his lane he damn near did a U turn and at the next set of lights i pulled up beside him and stared at him. He locked his doors and ignored me gripping the steering wheel with a look of abject terror on his face. After a few seconds he looked at me, mouthed "sorry" and went back to eyes front.
My guess is he'll be a little more careful in future.

I wasn't expecting trouble from a guy driving a corolla, I was watching the car behind me to make sure he didn't rear end me, and looking towards the front to look for my gap to turn right. Angry guy literally swerved to hit me. I should have been paying more attention - but the throttle kept me safe during the rest of his moody game playing.

Driver obviously made a mistake and didn't see you. What was wrong with using the warning device on your bike to warn him that you were there? Thats what its there for. They should see us, but history has proven time and time again that they don't. The reality of the life of a rider.
Punching windows only leaves the impression that bike riders are also a bunch of knuckle draggers.

Yeah, the driver made a mistake. Does that mean he had every right to run me off the road? And do you think he should learn the easy way (without killing someone) that not paying attention when you drive is a fucking bad idea? My fist on his window woke him up and scared the crap out of him, but neither of us were hurt.
And because he was in a vehicle with all the windows wound up and quite probably his stereo on, and because I was beside him and my horn was well below him and on the other side of my bike the odds are he wouldn't have heard my horn. Even if he had, his immediate reaction would probably have been to look in his rear vision mirror when I wanted him to IMMEDIATELY stop what he was doing, not look around and then wonder what the bump was as he hit me. I didn't have time to fuck around and be polite and because I hate crashing I made the (correct) decision to attract his attention immediately in a way that left him in no doubt that I was beside him and about to be under him.
And maybe it would be a good idea if more car drivers learned that motorcyclists are not people to fuck with. I get sick of the softcock attitude where we have to be constantly apologising for riding bikes and coming second to every other road user, if people want to put me in danger then they can't expect me to wring my hands and whimper.

I rode across Turkey once on my R75/5, learned very quickly that motorcycles are at the bottom of the pecking order. When a truck is coming straight at you overtaking another truck....you get out the way...no finger, no shaking of fist, no chasing them and ripping of their mirror.
Car drivers take great offence at being passed by motorcycles and will pull out the stops to get past on the flat bits..... In fact riding in Istanbul is a great way to learn riding survival skills.....slighty more mad than Auckland traffic....at least donkeys are slow.:innocent:

Yes.
I tend to give folks second, even third, fourth, and fifth chances - unless they have tried to kill me on the bike:angry:
Then they get some coaching and mentoring advice relating to road-sharing behaviour.
And while I see that "Punching windows only leaves the impression that bike riders are also a bunch of knuckle draggers", the odds are that at least we will be live knuckle-draggers.

It's not just motorcyclists that get targetted by bad drivers and the criminally insane. I had a truck driver try to kill me in a road rage incident when in my car on the Southern Motorway late one night. It was right out of that movie "Duel".
He was tailgating on the Harbour Bridge, so I flashed my brake lights at him. He backed off honking furiously and then roared right up behind me with his lights on full beam. He then followed me like this for several kms until the speed limit went back to 100km {from an 80km area}.
He then changed lanes, put his foot on the gas, overtook me and then jerked the truck and swung both his trailers at me! Missed me by inches!
I got a partial plate and reported him to the police. He was charged and spent some time in jail and lost his license. Later found out it was his 3rd road rage in two weeks, plus he later got arrested for domestic violence. And all this stemmed from his newly acquired P addiction.
So it's not just cause of the bike. People are just nuts!

Yes.
And while I see that "Punching windows only leaves the impression that bike riders are also a bunch of knuckle draggers", the odds are that at least we will be live knuckle-draggers.
Precisely, I rode home in one piece and he didn't end up with a ticket for careless driving causing injury (or death), so a win-win in my book. I'm pretty happy to weather the disapproval of the KB softcock brigade if it means I get to stay in one piece.

When pulled up next to them at the lights......
quickly....
dismount the motorcycle......
walk up tp their mirror....
raise Left foot......
KICK THE FUCKERS MIRROR OFF!!!
Quickly...
smash drivers window
pummel drivers head through said smashed drivers window
pull driver out of drivers window
kick drivers head in
mount motorcycle again and ride away very fast :)
Let me fix that for ya...

If all motorcycles were equipped like that then I think we would see an improvement in the way car drivers treat us - well, an improvement in the way that the surviving car drivers treat us anyway.
There'd be survivors?

Hallelujah to that - and perhaps a bit of fear would go a long way to making us more visible. Sometimes drivers dont see us (even though they have looked at us) because they dont percieve us as a threat, and their mind blocks us out of their vision.

Only the drivers that don't piss the bikers off!

That's exactly my argument. I fail to see how anyone with two functioning eyes is unable to see an object 1.5m high by about 1 m wide with a bloody great light in the middle of it, especially something that is moving. I can see my letterbox at the end of my driveway as clear as a bell and it's 100m away and dark blue with no lights.
Car drivers only don't "see" us because they neither see us as a threat or as something worth protecting. I bet Mary Pajero would be able to see a precious little baby on a bicycle more easily than a dirty old biker when she pulls out.

I started riding in March of last year and have recently got myself a second hand POV1 helmet camera. I've got it set to record constantly and, whenever 'something' happens, I tag the clip and it's saved. Otherwise the recording just loops. So you only save what you need to.
Now, when someone cuts me off or does something very stupid, I'll read back their license plate number to the microphone and tag the footage. Then, rather than being aggressive to the driver (though an angry honk and a non-offensive gesture gets passed) I just tap my camera on my lid to let the driver know they've been caught.
I figure the camera saves my arse in the case of an accident as I'm unlikely the one responsible for it, and I have the footage to prove it.
(I also tag any awesomeness I perform which is a sometimes thing  )

I'd love to see how one acts tough on a GN250
Picking it up and throwing it at someone would probably do it.

And for Dickhead of the Year...27th of December 2010
A woman with no driver's licence in an unregistered and unwarranted car with three passengers. She pulls out of a T-intersection then stops cold and one of the riders in our group smashes into her and is now in hospital with serious injuries.
She should go to jail and I hope she does!

Sorry to hear this mate. Best wishes to the injured rider. Hope he makes a full recovery.
Also hope justice serves in this case - sounds like the woman is in for serious consequences.

Heh totally with you on this one, I thumped a car once, I was pillion, and my rider didn't see her crossing over into our lane as we turned right, as we were slightly ahead, and when I banged on her car, her passenger just stared at me, I am afraid she got the finger from me that day... and why would she cross into a left lane before she is turning right off a right hand lane. :weird:
Loud and scary on a bike suits me fine, even at 5ft 2.. .mind you I often have loud & 6ft behind me.:devil2:
