Hi. just wondered if anyone can tell me the correct amount of oil I should be running in an Mb 100 gearbox and any recomendations on type would be appreciated.
Also has any one had any success fitting a different front end and what can be altered to fit the MB frame..?

A lot of the Honda front ends interchange, I'd be looking for a GL145 front end, disc brakes and bigger forks, if it doesn't bolt straight in it wont be to hard to modify so it can

Road bike or Bucket?

Thanks for that...bike is going to be used for bucket racing...Running std 4 speed at the moment but will look out for a 6 speed....has an MB50 front end fitted at the moment but not convinced this is the best option...

aprox 1 litre, remove the level plug by the kick start shaft, with bike standing upright, add 750mls, then top up slowly until oil comes out level hole. Use 5 speed manual transmission oil.

Make sure that transmission oil is motorcycle specific. Car oils have friction modifiers in them that don't go well with wet clutches.

Any reasonable quality 4 stroke bike oil will do. Castrol Active 4T, $13 litre from the Warehouse or Repco

What is expected for a sub $500 bike? We were selling a dirt bike for $100 or something and the guy spent ages picking holes in it. For f'ck sake, the cheap & nasty bikes are usually priced accordingly. If you want a $500+ bike, pay the extra, but don't expect a prisstine bike for less than that.

My $50 first bike was a POS, but all I gave a damn about was that it would run with some work, I wouldn't give a shit about crashing it and could have some fun on it. If it didn't pan out, I was out $50 plus the parts required. Seems I'm the oddball who has that attitude.

I would have thought that $150 for a six speed box was OK. Thats all you are after isn't it?

Fair call..New to this so still finding my way... unsure as the internal condition of the engine...has been sitting in a shed for many years...maybe I need to give it some more thought....

$150 is cheap, we paid $250ish for one.
Ignore the entire bike, all you want are the gears inside. As long as it hasn't been abused e.g. run without oil, you should be fine.

At that price I'm tempted to buy it as a spare just incase mine seizes.
I use Motul Transoil gearbox oil in mine.
