Bought a SHOEI Hornet DS helmet about 6 weeks ago and am really happy with the noise, fit and peripheral vision for my kind of riding. Today however I had a clattering sound on the helmet and upon inspection found that one of the plastic screws has gone missing. Really peeved off having paid good money for a quality component only to find that some of the key parts is made out of plastic that just undoes itself. Bought a 6mm bolt from MITRE10 to fix it for now but that looks terrible, so there must be a better solution.
Wonder if anyone else has had this experience and if so what can be done about it?

hope you've kept your receipt - you should have taken it back to where you got it from before the DIY.
at the moment, ive got a shark rsx helmet with a rather large piece of duct tape on it courtesy of gremlin. one of the air vents basically has lost the sticky glue stuff and no longer wants to be apart of the helmet itself. and i cant take it back to where i got it because the shop no longer exists. thankfully i can go to other places who say they have a spare vent so im lucky there.
but yeh, take it back to where you got it from, considering you only got it 6 weeks ago, they should either replace the helmet, or fix it - depends how much damage you may have done to the helmet with the scew you used.

Was always planning to take it back but shops are closed. The DIY has not damaged anything so there should be no problem

So went back to Holeshot this morning, got a new plastic screw put in and put some transparent tape over both, not noticeable and problem solved. Hope not to have this again anytime soon.
