Does anyone here know of any reputable overseas sites to buy computer parts from, which also ship parts to NZ? With the favourable $US : $NZ exchange rate I could save a lot of money provided shipping costs are reasonable.

Take this how you like, but with the known failure rate of computer components, buying them from over seas may not end up being as cheap as you think. Warranty is an important thing.

I'm thinking more along the lines of an aftermarket CPU cooler.

I would not buy a motherboard/CPU/HD/RAM/video card etc from overseas!

I've had about 5 motherboards fail on me so I'm happy I had my warranty for that.

Unless you're after something extremely special, its all made in China etc, which are brought in by local suppliers and margins are small. Warranty is important for any component.

Alot of the online NZ stores aint too far off in price (after import etc) are they? as there getting it from their chinese mates anyways & they do all the import crap for you.

there are a few importers that you can buy from at wholesale prices, only way to meet their prices would be to do as they do, buy in bulk from the overseas distributors.

I just recently got my A+ cert, and I'm trying to get a cheap supplier to build custom gaming rigs, so let me know if you get a good supplier.

The local market is very competitive. I'd be surprised if you could, in general, bring in stuff any cheaper.

Thought about making your own? Smack in a Peltier with a heat sink and fan on top.

You can buy Peltiers in NZ for quite a reasonable price.

But if I had lost 5 motherboards I'd be thinking it would be cheaper to buy a pre-made computer with a warranty ...

The Peltier is a lot cheaper and provides actual cooling specifications ...

But will it cool a 1055T at 4GHz? I could always experiment on an old Pentium 4 I have lying around.

Hyper 212+, $45, rivals everything up to $120. There aren't really any cheaper suppliers short of Newegg who don't ship internationally. Hell even all my Chinese suppliers actually charge more for componentry(there is one cheaper supplier for coolers but they aren't cheaper for the same cooler, just their own coolers which are crap.).
