hi there i was gonna get an earlier RGV myself but didn't and got a 4 stoke in stead since they both make the same power due to the JAP law's ( yes i know the 2 stroke is lighter )

It amazes me, the complete lack of discussion revolving around the de-restriction of jap 250's 2 or four stroke.

If you are talking about the speed limiter you can do a wiring mod to remove that.

If your talking about the HP limiter than as you already know with 2 strokes people only ever talk about replacing the CDI

Now the CDI doesn't deal with fuelling or throttle opening so the only way it can limit your bike is via ignition ( just like my 1992 ZXR ). SO you can replace the CDI to change the ignition timing, but to me that sems like a huge waste of money when you can just whip the timing rotor off and slot it so it's now adjustable, then you can change the timing to a more optimal level and doing so is basically free.

That is my opinion not that i know alot about 2 strokes

hey Ultrasonic2, i just got a derestriced sapc unit from the uk and just have fitted it (just plug and play) remove the old one and put the new one in. And the increase in power is just mind blowing 1,2,3 (3rd with clutch) wheelies off the mark, and the needle keeps going round well and truelly after 180 and past the kph as well, its unf@king real it only cost me 55 pound from the uk. has no problem keeping up and out handling the much bigger capacity bikes. now ive just got to keep the front wheel on the ground. cheers for the help

I suppose you have been on http://www.rgv250.co.uk/

Heaps of info there including the power valve mods

Just sold my NZ new VJ21L, 34mm carb, 240km speedo model. A mate has got it now for a track/race bike

I think thats the quickest way to tell the differnce betwwen inport and full HP NZ models.

Have all the imports got 180km speedo?

yeah thats where i found out about the sapc units, mines got 34mm's but a 180kph speedo. i would like a 240 one but i duna if i could be bothed winding the clock around to match up with my kms on my bike,

i am going to do a rebulid over winter.
head skim
forged 1mm - 2mm oversized pistons

I'm not sure if the speedos a switch inside them that backs off the ignition timing for your speed limiter. Should just be a wire to snip if it is. Probably doesnt do anything now with your new ignition box anyway

Glad you got it sorted, A winter overhaul is a good idea, I would have a look at the power valves before that tho

Watch the plugs carefully... the P jap carbs are 34mm, but unlike all the other models of 34s.
