I was just looking through the NZQA (New Zealand Qualifications Authority) web site, and was amazed to find a course labelled "Apply precise control in riding a road motorcycle". A level 3 course.

http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/nqfdocs/units/pdf/3468.pdf

And I found this level 4 course, "Describe road motorcycle components, systems, dynamics, and handling characteristics".

I'm impressed we have national standard courses for motorcycles. Can anyone tell me what these courses are used for?

Type in 1084 in the quals in NZQA home page and all will be revealed. (there could be more, i just couldnt be fagged goin through the list of em.)

You have stumbled on a unit standard (paper in old speak) so its part of a bigger picture.
Hope this helps.

Fuck all at the moment, as far as I know nobody's offering courses.

Reasons for that might occur to you...

Standard 1084 is:

National Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Courier Driver) with strands in Urgent Operations, and Non-urgent Operations

Bugger me - we have a standard for motorcycle courier drivers? I've been living under a rock.

Riding a motorcycle is a real job, it just doesn't pay.
