hard to believe its the most modern bike I have ever owned.
am on the lookout for a modern rolling chassis for an excellent motor.

thought about restoring it?
tank doesnt look that bad, seat could do with a recover, but thats easy as. franme, maybe a repaint or powder coat. the engine comes otta those things in tne minutes. why not have the satisfaction of having a mean bike you restored yourself? wouldnt take all that much effort i wouldnt think. hell even do it a bit at a time and ride it while you do it

I think the handlebars are only there to give it something to push with - no throttle, clutch or brake. What a shed !!

I had a go on a 96 rm250 that was repowered by an xr200, what an excellent bike, far better than any xr200 that I have ridden, now I am quite keen to build a hybrid of my own.

here she is, mission (almost) accomplished

277816

89 rm250 rolling chassis with the xr motor, tank, and seat from above. had to move the footpegs and make custom mounts for the motor, as well as some custom cables and bits here and there, just waiting for the sprockets to arrive then it will be time for a shakedown. so far it owes me less than $300. :done:

Looking good, a mate has just bought an XR200 with and RM250 front end in it, I'll have to show him you pic

Little Bro had a XR500A with HRC gear in a RM frame, shit was always vibrating to bits and falling off including the rider

that'd be a hellova squeese, but would be good to have a ride on.

I imagine part of the hrc gear would be lightened or non existant balancers, i once removed the balancer chain from a 500 to see if it gave it any more grunt, used to buzz your feet right off the footpegs.
even worse was when I timed the balancers up wrong, ended up amplifying the vibrations.

I got my eye on an old rm80 that would be good as a 200,

every time I see an XR200 I start wondering if it's my old one that was stolen from up my driveway 20yrs ago....In Blenhiem ....and no I'm not over it :angry2:

That's mint compared to my TS185. It has a PVC water pipe to connect the airbox to the carb, and the seat is held together with rust.

I have a similar deal with the one I pulled apart 20 years ago and mostly put back together (then sold, cos I'd lost interest).

Well if the clamps are straight and for 35mm fork tubes im interested as mine are bent. Also could be interested in the headlight and plate.

the headlight and plate are pretty rough, dunno about the clamps, but the forks are bent like bananas so don't get your hopes up just yet
