Hey just thought id make a first post.
i've got a honda cbr250rr which i brought in perfect condition not a single mark on it. is charmeleon green/blue paintjob with sparkles. looks epic how it changes colour.
i park it in my hallway outside my room so no1 touches it.
on xmas my gf dad came round and just decided he would help him self. started it revs it whilst it was cold. next day bike is found on the ground with bent this, smashed that. not happy. he not even paying for it. so now iv got a good bike that needs all new fairings mirrors screen. can't affored to fix let alone new paintjob. so yeh.
anyways its done high kms but been well looked after. jetted out carbs and alsorts. goes better then any other 250 iv been on. and im sure it would keep up with my brothers 750 ninja. not that id ever get to find that out...
i'll try upload photos but have no idea but should work it out soon.

Nice paint dude!. Bugger about the damage, but looking on the bright side the girlfriend might be feeling guilty for a while?
I watched a friend of mine back up his driveway one day years ago, right into his usual spot, where I had just parked my then mint GSXR750H. I know how you must feel.
By the way, welcome to KB.

i finally got to go for a ride with the 750ninja, to bad it wasn't with my brother was dad riding it. but i can now say. my bike doesn't beat a 750 but it stays with it at all speeds, 750 doesnt beat me by much so im extremely happy that it can't loose me.

your 250 sint going to beat a 750, and no, it wont do 240km/hr, nor is it going to 'keep up with it at all speeds', you needa cut that shit out if you want any advice on here, cos poeple will just take pleasure in ripping shit out of you.
Fairings, For a start, you need to be telling your GF's dad that unless he wants his car fucked up with a crowbar, he needs to fix it if he is responsible, fuck even ask him to go halves as a matter of principle if it helps.
As for the fairings, there are a few sellers on trademe selling aftermarket kits for these things, for quite a bit under a thousand bucks, that is usually unpainrted though. They are reasonably good quality, but you will need to spend a few hours with little bit, getting them to fit and line up perfectly.
there is also a tyga performance website if you want to go down that route, however the downside with the tyga ones is that often, they are quite custom, and require custom Tyga lights to fit in them, and the Tyga lights are not legal in NZ as they dont have the required 'E' marking on the lenses, so it can be a bit of a false economy buying them

sweet as, i will bring my non standard R1 and meet you in Oamaru, name the day, I have family there so down for whatever, post a vid of your cbr 250, doing 250km/hr and I will suck my own dick.
theyre a great little 250cc bike, but theyre just that, a little 250cc bike.
If you can manage to stop talking SHIT for 5 minutes, you will actually learn quite alot on here, and youll find people will go out of their way to help you.
If you look carefully, youll notice that over two or three threads, I have actually given you some good advice and been helpfull.
If youre just here to be a troll, fuck off somewhere else,
If youre here as a good kiwi dude, who has developed a love of bikes, and you just want to ride, and learn and have a good time, then stop talking crap and get on with the good, honest biking.

Where to start...
ROFLMFAO!,
You might as well turn around and tell us you have a 21Inch monster in the front of your pants,
Anyways give us a date and time, and I will bring my Stock Standard VFR 400 with an unrestricted top speed of 208...
You cant peak much more than 220 out of those bikes and that's about it, So unless you dont have a CBR250 motor and happen to have some larger capacity motor shoehorned into it, "Mate your dreaaaaming"

Hey guys! Singing chef speaks the truth, i got mine Dyno'd at Red Barron. It currently has a new exhaust, aftermarket CDI, new jets and assorted other little bits.
Ive taken mine down the greenhithe bridge (if anyone knows where that is) and easily broke 230 (although i dont have a solid reading because the speedo only goes to 180)
Im not 100% certain my Dyno print out shows the topspeed as they only took it to 17k RPM but im certain it broke at least 215-220.
In retrospect Speedo's on these bikes arent the most legit.
I think at the end of the day Its a bike that can break any/every speed law in NZ so who cares...
Ill post a copy of the dyno sheet when i can :)

This is all getting a bit silly. Young bucks always like to boast about their 12" cocks, but the reality is always different.
A dyno reading will not give you an accurate top road speed. Without the weight of the rider, and more importantly without any wind resistance, any reading is meaningless. You can probably deduct 40-50kph from any theoretical reading. Taking a dyno reading and adding a bit is farcical.
Motorcycle speedos are notoriously unaccurate, particularly on small bikes, and particularly at higher speeds. You can quite safely assume an over-read of around 10%, or around 15-20kph.
If your speedo only goes up to 180, you have no idea at all what any speed over that truly is.
As others have said, put up a GPS confirmed speed run, not dyno-bullshit. Until then, we can safely assume that the only way you'll get your 250cc bikes to 240-250kph is to throw them out of an aeroplane from a great height.

Im not boasting.. im just trying to clear something up.
Totally aggree with you there, not denying anything :) and as i said before Speedoes are horrible on MC's, i beleive i had an accurate reading due to a friend following beside me, his read 220, and could prob do more but ran out of straight road (not too keen to take a corner at that speed on a pidly 250 hahaha)
But all that said totally agree with you there. Quite frankly i couldnt care my bikes top speed, its a 250, my bikes built for corners, not straight lines. goodluck with the top speed tests mate!!

Car speedos also become wildy innaccurae after about 130km/hr, tending to also read high. Bikes are renowned for being worse though.
I dont really care about a top speed, Im more a corners lunatic, but if youre gunna say your 250 can do 250, and keep up with a GSXR750, then youre going to called called out.

surely you'd hit the rev limiter (assuming it has one) before you get to 250. Ive had my MC19 up to 180 (on a slight incline) at just over 17,000rpm with about 1500 revs left before it'd hit the limiter. I know MC22 gears are slightly longer and they have a few more revs at their disposal but i still dont think you'd get to 250... its a nice bike, hope you can afford to fix it up soon :)
EDIT: other than the 'jetted out carbs', what else has been done?

I had my MC19 up to 180, took forever to get there, but thats 180 on the dial so most likely something like 160 - 155 but it wasnt limited I still had a gear left and was at about 17grand, Now in saying that, I just dont understand why people go on about their 250's doing more than 100, it takes roughly 6 and a half seconds to get to 100 depending on your weight, the road, the weather, your tyres, your fat ass ego ect, buy a bigger bike, Argument ended what would take a 250 to overtake a car, would take the likes of a 90's 600 to do twice.

I have no rev limiter....
i took my bike to a couple of mechanic friends that have worked at red baron etc, they had it for a few days and i didnt really get charged a whole lot either.
new jets,
new airfilter
carbs overhauled
new sparkplugs

didnt take too long for mine to hit 180 on the dial? but as you'll see on my dyno (when i get around to putting it up) its running really good, been well looked after, garaged, serviced etc..

Guys, leave these two alone ok? I had a 250 back when I was a teenager, and it would easily do 240km/h. Funny thing was though, even though I no longer had the bike as I got older it seemed to be slower. You know, late teens and it was now only really about 210. Then it was 210 'indicated'. Then as I got even older it turned out it was only 180. Weird man, 'cos when I was a teenager it was the fastest bike on the road. I also knew everything there was to know, and anyone older than me had no idea about how good a HIGH-PERFORMANCE 250 performed, what with their experiences based around big slow bikes.
Now I'm 35, I own a 160hp GSXR1000 that would be lucky to probably hit a genuine 290km/h. Man if I had owned that when I was a teenager it would've been a true 480km/h bike. Honest. I'll race ya to prove it.

Well when I was 18, I had a Kawasaki GPZ1100. It was one of the fastest things out there at the time.
I'm VERY lucky to still be alive.

I know what you mean. I had a GSXR750 when I was 20, wasn't cheap either. It cost me an arm.

Eggs-fucking-actly. I'm one of the lucky ones, I made it out of being a teenager despite thinking I was the next Kevin Schwantz or Peter Brock.

That statement humbled me. Brought back all those memories of the stupid things I got away with. Two things pulled me into line, a biker / petrol head Dad who was not shy in telling me what I was & who I could never keep up with & the cost of fixing my bike to get too work, again..
Thinking about it, my worst offs were trying to keep up with the old man. FS, it was his fault all the time, I knew I was right:yes:

Taking in mind they only push it to 17000rpm

im sure it could do more and i believe ive taken it fast but meh, who cares.
32.6 hp?

Its measured in PS, not HP, which is a slightly different measurement I think, besides the factory 45hp was at the flywheel i think.
Top speed of 208km/hr. a very good effort for a modded 250, even with all the mods youve done to it.
Still a long way off lil-vulky's claims of 250. and of course factor in a rider and wind etc in the real world, and it drops a tad more, still a very quick 250 though.
Ad for only taking it to 17000rpm, wont really affect it much, thats about where it will be making the most power, e.g. you might make 25HP @ 15000rpm, then 32HP @17000rpm, and at 18500rpm youre back down to 30HP . . .
Your HP will drop after peak, and youll reach peak before 'redline', so without doing a fuck ton of internals, cams, hi comp pistons porting etc etc, it doesnt matter how high it revs anyway.
Like I said though, still a very good effort westy, a bike you can be proud of!!!

PS is metric horsepower
10HP = 101.39PS
so fuckall different, I thought the diffeence was greater.
still 32 @ the wheel, how many kms on it westy? that isnt bad, whats the factor for loss? from crank to wheel? I had a feeling it was around 20% for shaft drives, but not sure for chain?
If youre doing a proper hardcore dyno run you can add a myriad of changes to make little increass, new chain in good nick, wheel bearings etc etc, but youd gain only a fraction with that.

its done around 60,000ks, ive owned it since 35,000 and had it for about a year and a half. im not too sure, i was told it was around 42-43hp at the crank from the Bike mechanic who ran the test. yeah it has a pretty new chain, lubed every weekend as well as a new set of Sprockets. wheel bearings are pretty new too.

Your power is measured vertically, maked by horizontal lines. Your speed is marked along the horizontal axis, and each of the dotted vertical lines represents 8km/hr, so just a matter of counting them up, = 208km/hr

around how much will a dyno test in Auckland set me back? im keen on seeing how much my (mostly) stock MC19 is putting out - its only done 10,000k's.

Wow only 10,000ks? you sure it hasnt actually done 110,000?
haha i imagine it would put out something similar, depends on how its been looked after really.
i would like to think around 60 for a basic dyno... sorry mate i didnt pay for mine.

yup, pretty sure. I was overly skeptical when buying it but everything seemed to check out (carjam, disc-wear, brake pads... it even had the original factory tyres ).

yea, its probably not worth it, but if it gets a decent result it should add more than the dyno cost to the value of the bike. When i do finally get my restricted (next week) - and then my full (12months and 1 week), i'll have 4ish grand from my MC19 to put towards my 06 cbr600rr :shifty:

they ruined the front from 07 onwards. The other changes dont seem too drastic; slightly smaller engine putting out around the same HP, electronic steering dampener (ill put my wheelies down straight ) and a slightly lighter frame. I reckon the 03-06 rr's are the best looking out of all the 600's

Ive heard the Steering Damper really made a difference and could save your butt. haha its your choice, im just going from suggestions from bike mechanics and assorted friends. Either way its a CBR so its going to kick ass ;)

07/08 FTW. But I would say that, my girlfriend rides an '08. Love the centre snorkel and black frame swingarm. Also seriously reduced weight compared to the -06 models.

Id rather visit Jenny and lose the 9.1kg difference myself than have to stare at that 'snorkel'. Maybe i can swap the 06 front over and get the best of both worlds... that swingarm does look pretty sweet

pics arn't of the bike thats on trademe if thats what you mean? but they are the same as each other (06 600rr), i just photoshopped the lights in.
haha, i've watched all the tankslapper vids on youtube so i'd probably end up investing in an aftermarket damper at some stage. Yea i agree any cbr is gonna be O for Owesome. If that snorkel was never invented, my sights would be set on a 07-08.... maybe it'll grow on me..

It's not just the difference, it's how it carries the weight. Regardless ride both and decide for yourself, it's your money and you that has to smile every time you open the garage door.

i can imagine it wouldnt be too hard to replace the front fairing, may be a bit of work but worth it. best of luck!
