What have searched for on the 'net so far that has been close to what you are looking for? A quick search for 'sidi motorcycle boots' gave some results that might pass as black formal shoes. Give us some help as to what purpose they need to suit.

I don't mind these Vitesse boots. I'm tempted to get a pair for my tour, but I can't make up my mind on if I like the colour.

Otherwise I usually wear a pair of Alpinestars One-o-One shoes to work.

There's plenty of choices out there. Even my Sidi Vertigo Air boots are surprisingly unnoticed by most people under my kevlar jeans except if I have to start running  This one time, at band camp, I rode to watch my missus play hockey and the other team were short so I grabbed a stick and played  OK, so I ran funny, but I had awesome protection for my feet, ankles and shins :woohoo:
As my boot advice always is - go try a whole heap on and see what fits you the best and what styles are readily available

Very comfortable and fit well under jeans. Good protection of the ankles with lots of padding. Brought mine from Cycletreads. Really easy to put on/take off with the Boa lacing system. Also good non slip sole too.

Worth a look!

I have some Oxtar (who have since re branded under a new name) shoes/boots that were really comfortable and looked like shoes but with a bit of protection. Not as good as boots but I guess that can be expected. What was bad about these was that I had them repaired after about 6 weeks of wear as the seams went. A few months later the seams went in a different place. They were so comfortable but were crap really. I look after my stuff and shoes last for years but these were absolute crap.

My husband has these Shift shoes/boots and got them from Cycletreads - he has thrashed them for over a year and often wears them as shoes  they are great, and are still looking new.

Army boots. have a look at a surplus place near you. I love them, have two pair of laceups, one in the semi-infamous pink and a pair of scary ones with buckles around the top

Alpine star gortex touring boots. Only one person noticed I was wearing boots and they were a bouncer at a pub. Asked me if they were steal caps told him no, they were motorcycle boots and that was that.

Anyway for all round good boots you cant go wrong with them. Warm, waterproof and look unassuming.

i also still want the protection of full boots, ankle protection ect.

I have the same problem and had basically come down to either a TCX book or the Vitesse already mentioned, although I preferred the Vulcan model.

The TCX I like can be ordered and shipped here:
http://www.topgearsuperstore.com/product_info.php?products_id=3382{7}75&osCsid=qtq8ngadrvqgfh5o79tvqqkn80

If you are interested, and we can agree which is best, would be happy to purchase together and split the shipping etc. Send me a PM if you like?

Updated: Thought I should just add that I have tried to get this TCX boot through my local supplier, however they have been told by the distributor they don't bring this model in. I'm all keen for supporting the guys where I can, but it seems in this case they just don't offer a boot that suits this need.

If they are under your jeans then buy some of the new (in black) Sidi ST boots 95% of the protection of their full house race boot but much more practical as a road boot.
go to www.sportbiketrackgear.com and watch the video review on them.

I know exactly what you mean! Motorcycle boots tend to be too 'bikie' in that they usually have reinforced toes, buckles, skid plates etc.

For me, the bike is my primary transport so I need footwear that I can ride in for protection but then the boots are exceptable to go into a bar or restaurant, going to work, a friends place and so on.

In the past I've found MB boots cost around $500 and fall to bits within a year.

So I have now gone to a cowboy boot (wrangler) and has been the best boot by far! check out this website: www.saddleup.co.nz

You can also get waterproof jeans from here (thomas cook)
