Flat front tyre

Well, went for a ride on my bike when i got new mirrors. driving on the open road i suddenly noticed my bike wasn't normal. pulled over and had a flat front tyre. i drove home doing like 40km. didn't have anyway else to get home wasn't very far out of town.

got home pumped it back up. herd no leaks. took to petrol station to pump up properly. stayed there for a few mins seen that it had dropped from 33psi to like 28psi. pumped up again went home.

over night it never went flat took back to see what psi and it was still sitting at around 28psi.

either the pump machine isnt accurate. or the air temp i pump at was making the slight difference or it has a slow leak.

took my front wheel off and put into a tub of water to see if there was any leaks. yet there was no air bubbles of any sort.

does anyone have any ideas whats going on with my wheel?

not sure if there is a slow leak or not tests show that there isnt any leaks to be found except the odd diff in psi readings.

did check the valve but that wasnt leaking.

its just weird how it was fine suddenly went flat on me then stays pumped up when i pump it back up. not sure what to do.
does anyone know how i can test to see if there is a hole or if my tyre safe to ride on.

p.s it's a new tyre which was on when i brought.

If it'snot showing leaks under water, and the valve is good/new, (pay to fit a new one, they are cheap), then I would check the pressures before each ride for about a week, and if it doesn't change, then your probably ok.
Possibly the valve does have a fault. Just replace it to eliminate doubt. MHO

might take it to a motorbike shop on wednsday and get them to just check. can't really afford a new tyre im dead broke. although i still have my front wheel from my gsxr which might have the same size tread. that was a new tyre too.

it's just got me worryed that there is a leak but not sure where or if im just paranoid. because it was fine while riding but then suddenly went flat. wasn't like slowly going flat it was just boom flat.

was thinking it could of had low air presure and popped off the bead while hitting a bump in the road to make it go dead flat suddenly or something.

Did you check the pressure before the ride (or recently?)
I've seen quite a few times where someone checks the pressure, then the tyre goes flat due to a bit of crap in the valve, then ya blow it up again and blow the crap outta the valve....so it doesn't leak again....
Note: this is why valve caps are important too.

That does happen, but the speed and force required ... you would remember running over something. More like ...as mentioned ... VALVE (seat ???) issues. On a tubeless ... not a great issue (or $$$$$) to replace ... A five minute job to replace the whole stem and reinflate the tyre ...

Get a GOOD (accurate) guage and use it regularly - you'll be amazed at how much better the bike handles - and how much better your tyre life is.

the valve core isn't a little bit loose in the stem is it? give it a twist

i was um over taking 2 cars doing ... speed after i slowed down i noticed the handling different.

will go get a new valve tomorrow and check

Well i put in a new valve but still seems to be going down so iv booked it in for a check tomorrow morning. hopefully it wont cost much. will let everyone know what was wrong with it :P

well got it back from the motorbike shop. i am just paranoid because it doesnt leak.
im blaming the pump at shell for giving me wrong readings making me paranoid lol.

no idea how it suddenly went flat in the first place. but my tryes are fine :D

You dont have a small child that has learnt to do what Daddy does...and try and pump up the tyres, while you are not looking???...or an errant teenager trying to piss you off by letting your tyre down a bit??

PS... pump the tyre up to about 50-60 PSI and look for leaks in the water bath if you are still not convinced. If it has a slow leak the bubbles will be very slow at 30 PSI. Adjust tyre pressure and re-fit.

Cheak the inside of your valve caps,if you have custom caps the O-ring may have dropped and is pressing on the valve itself(pull the O-ring out you dont need it),if you got the common arse plastic black ones you may have some shit in the cap interferring with the valve

nope have no little kids yet or people that would let it down, did check the valve cap and it was fine.

when i took it to the shop in the morning it was 30psi when he checked it which is higher then the air machine at shell because it would tell me it had dropped from 33 to 25 in like 20 seconds so i blame there faulty machine for making me paranoid.

but am keeping an eye on it and buying a pressure gauge that works.
