I have a DRZ 400 E if that's more your thing. I think it'll be a damn site more reliable than your other preferred ride.

The BMW 650. The motor and mechanicals might work but the odds are the electrics will fail when you're in the middle of nowhere. If you buy the BMW get the premium AA membership, they'll retrieve your bike from the end of the earth and bring it back to Aucks. Another BMW rider on here had his retrieved from the Motu in that manner. Oh and pack some bars etc to keep you nourished while you wait for the recovery vehicle.
On the plus side you get a little more adventure than you bargain for with these bikes.
As for your other bikes, DRZ 400 beats the DRZ 650 in the offroad bike stakes. Dramatically lighter. You wre talking about off road ability?
DRZ 650 - 147kg
DRZ 250 - 115kg
DRZ 400 - 113kg
Riding a DRZ 400 would be like riding around without a large kid on the back compared to what you had previously. I think the bike offers the best all round in terms of what you mentioned.
I'll remember to quote next time. Cheers.

...and 9.5 litre tank, you will be forever filling up at gas stations, so get used to those pies and nasty coffee...:) Consumption @ 90Kph...:) will you be doing that on this? Hardly, it is a nice beast!
Nice looking bike if you could get a 12 litre tank or more...:)
Yes, after the Motu ride I bought a premium AA membership and have used it once. Even once it paid for itself, it cost over $700 to ship me and a bike home near Rotorua lakes. Money well spent at $90 approx for the year. :niceone:
