ok so the grubbermint is suggesting that PH's that fall on weekends automatically get moved to Mondays and Tuesdays. This will cancel the PH weekends.
I think its a suck idea, but the MSN poll has shitloads of retards voting in support of it.
hmmm do I want a 2 day PH or a 4 day PH.
Business owners obviously want it shorter, but blue collar workers would want 4 days so they can collect all day in leiu, and overtime entitlements.
Am I the only motherfucker that works shifts around the clock?
Am I the only kiwi born retard that didn't go to university ergo now I sit in my airconned office fingering my puckerhole on a salary, Mon-Fri 9-5 only?
Is NZ far too top heavy? FUCK YES.
Might be time to blow the dust off me school uniform and head off to uni.
if you can't beat em, infiltrate.

Phill Goff and the EPMU are not the government. It's simple. An election year is gearing up. So Labour and their lapdogs are starting to build their platform of gifts for the public to try and bribe their way back into power. Don't worry. National will be offering their bribes soon enough too. As will the rest of the wankers.
The bit that I found amusing ...
"In my opinion, Anzac Day and Waitangi Day are the most significant days to New Zealand. They should be properly observed.
"The point of observing significant days is you take time to reflect. That simply doesn't happen on a weekend."
Andrew Little is saying those days aren't important unless you get a day off for them. What a crock of shit. It doesn't matter if they are on a weekend or not; if they are important to you they will be observed.

Read what's being suggested. The current system is unfair in that it penalises people who work on public holidays that are also on weekends. It's also unfair in that once in a while certain holidays that aren't Mondayised fall on weekends (there are two such events this year) and people miss out on those.

I'm a kiwi born retard that didn't goto uni now I sit in an aircon office on a salary with my finger on KB all day mon-fri 8-5
Moving it to mon-tue would give me 3-4 day weekend but don't give me no day in leiu, overtime or time & a half.
Would be cool to have the extra holidays (I like myself don't like working so much and work to live, not live to work) but I can't say as this is a big enough issue for me to care either way, if it happens cool if not meh.

absolutely right. I worked with a Jewish guy many years ago: hell of a nice man, and he had to organise his annual leave a year in advance so that he could observe the rituals that were important to him.
My personal view is that Waitangi Day should not be "celebrated" at all by anyone, and that Anzac day should be a full-on national holiday like Christmas day with full-on no trading allowed, and mandatory attendance at remembrance services. Not for the religious aspects.

I like Waitangi Day only cause it suits me, however Dominion Day is more when NZ became self governing and should be celebrated. Agreed that ANZAC day should be a full on public hol no excuses and like Christmas if is fulls on another hol an observance day should occur on the next working day. It is too important to let slid into a weekend. The Aussies do it so should we.

I agree ANZAC day should be a full on holiday with no shopping. No problem with the concept of "Mondayising" it like Christmas and New Years.
Sucks that this year it falls on Easter Monday and those working it won't get double time and a half and two days in Lieu.

I didn't go to uni and spend quite a bit of time in an office 8-4:30, and don't work public holidays and don't work weekends, so if the holiday is on the weekend then I miss it unless I'm on call in which case I get a DIL anyway.
So sounds good to me, I'm always keen for another day off.

I reckon fuck it, can the whole fucking lot of them they are nothing but a pain in the fucking arse and most of them stem from some fairy tale bullshit that the bulk of the population don't believe in anyway.
Give everybody another 11 days holiday per year and let them choose when they take them.

It doesn't really bother me if ANZAC Day is a public holiday or not.
I WILL be at the dawn parade
I WILL spend the day in reflection
I WILL pay my respects.
Personally, I think retailing should shut down for ANZAC Day. We owe it to the people that made our freedom possible to show our gratitude.

Too right. Is it just me or does it seem like many people have forgotten why ANZAC day is so important?

It appears to me that ANZAC Day draws the country together, to me it is more of a Nation building day than Waitangi day has been in the years I can remember.
