Yeah I saw that. Good on the owner for tracking it down. I would have thought the dealer should have seen any ownership papers before buying it though?

Dirt bikes/quads don't come with ownership papers, unless they're road legal (most quads aren't and highly unlikely a racing quad would be).
All they could do is run the #'s through some system to see whether stolen or not (and that depends if the #'s have been given to the police).
The named thief is only being charged with receiving, rather than theft, or did I read that wrong?
Good result for the owner, and sounds like the shop was helpful as well :)

Good point that. As he had been paid out by insurance I would have thought the numbers should have been in the system.
And don't get me wrong, I'm not having a go at the dealership at all. This is why we won't touch second hand computers at all.

His statement to the police would be:
"Nah, I bought it off some guy I got talking to in the pub, he said he needed to sell it quick cos he needed the money for [insert lame reason: divorce/drugs/crack habit/skank is up the duff again/whatever]. So I said "I'll give you $500 for it mate" and to my surprise he took it. Nah, I din get a receipt, he seemed straight up. Nah, I dont think he was local. Nah, there was nobody else in the pub. [or, nah, it was while i was away and I didnt know anybody at that particular pub]"
So the po po can totally get him and easily with receiving (he knew, or ought to have known, it was dodgy, or failed to make enquiry), but much much harder to prove the theft: plus they havent got the resources or the interest.
So scumbag Pilcher gets a $400 fine which he won't pay, probably beats up his skank girlfriend and kids, then commits more robberies thinking he "got away with it".
One of the few things the Muslims do well is punish theives: cut off the fuckers hand. that'll sort him out.

Ahhh.... he's in the bike theft shit as far as I'm concerned... the depth doesn't interest me in the slightest.
You get convicted for a crime related to bike theft, then into this thread you shall go. Some nice moderator should sticky this and putting flashing lights around it.
Free bling for anyone that can add a proven matched up picture of any offender (i.e. don't just post a pic of your brother hahahahaahah)

You read it right, but without scumbags like him, there would be no market for stolen bikes.
It's likely he stole it anyway, coz how many thieves would own up to actually stealing it, I could imagine most would say they acquired it elsewhere.

Am I being dumb here, but if you steal a bike, how do you manage to get change of ownership papers? Presumably you don't, because alarms would go off if you tried? And without papers the dealer wouldn't touch it?
Seems that is how it should work am I just being niave?
And $400, fuck me that's hardly going to convert a hardened criminal.

They usually get stripped for parts. The VIN and any other identifying features will then be ground off the frame to make it harder for the authorities to prove that the vehicle in question was stolen.

Thieving cunt previously of Pukekohe stole my trailer with 2 race bikes on it. The cop I dealt with said he knew Sean did it but couldn't prove it. I got back a pile of cut up bits spray bombed black.
This happened a long time ago but I still hate the light fingered cunt and would like nothing better than to hear he got hit by a train or similar.

Go into a Land Transport office, or you can do it online I think. But you need to pay and they will take your details (ruling out any vigilante behaviour).

Give me your rego, and I can change your bike into my name right now, in ten minutes flat over the internet. its that easy. Cops probably dont bother checking the reg'd owner, because reg'd owner does not constitute ownership, so they probably wouldnt even look into that side of it

Yep, done on the interweb in 5 minutes for $9.41.
The registered owner is just the person that gets the bills sent to them, proof of ownership is a reciept to prove you bought it.

Just make sure you dress up as a cop when you do it, then all you'll get if you get caught is a slap on the wrist.

Tried, convicted, got a slap on the wrist and owes me 2k reparation, which I'll never see.
Currently in prison for other crimes AFAIK. I would happily forgo the reparation for 1/2 an hour alone with him in a locked room

People should consider this before commiting crimes.

I know of a man in jail that did terrible things to young boys, and he has been jailed twice for it - he gets out and then he reoffends, he targets young boys in a solo parent situation. He is from my area - I know his name and I know his face. When he gets out next year, I will be paying attention. If I ever see him, God help him (because no one else will) People like this cannot reform as there is something terribly wrong with them in their head. Pedophiles and people who torture children and imprison them to be used as sex slaves do not have a place in society.
End of rant.

I don't have any information on this man that isn't already public information. The problem is that if someone serves their time, then they get released. I know it is wrong - the tale I was told about what this guy did horrified me, and I know one of his victims.
If I ever saw him on the street, I would probably run him over.

Hawke's Bay Today has a regular feature where EVERY ONE convicted of Drink Driving is named and their home town is also named.
A society has some basic rules. Once you break these you have lost your right to be part of this society. I don't really give a shit what then happens to you. But you should not be allowed back. And I also think that if you are allowed back and you once again offend, not only you but also the ones who decided to allow you back should be held accountable!

I agree with the THEORY of a thread like this, one where you could name people, who were PROVEN guilty of such things, however there is a problem.
firstly, getting the right person, not hard you say? BULLSHIT.
I have a good friend whose name is the same as mine, both first and last names, and spelt the same way. we both ride motorcycles. we both live in the same area, of the same city. also, our addresses are pretty similar, his address is 444 xxxxxxxx road/street/drive, and my address is 44 xxxxxx road/street/drive.
If you dont beleive me, there are several other members on here who are friends with me, AND the other guy, who will confrim it, so yeah, pretty fucking hard to assure you have the right person. Oh, and we are within about 4 years of age of each other too.
second issue I have with a thread like this, is the aggressive, lynch mob type response you see when you wind a bunch of guys up about something. consideration and thought goes out the window. sure, in your mind, going and bashing a guy for doing something is all fine and dandy, but there a problem with 'Im going to do xxxxx, because this person did something to me'. that problem is everybody having that attitude, what happens then? your 15 year old daughter cuts off someone in traffic accidentally while learning to drive, and some cunt slits her throat for it. vigilante justice is appealing at times, but it just doesnt work, and neither does a thread like this, because of the hysteria it creates.
Like I said, Id support a thread like this if it could be purely factual, pure, gaurantee no false accusations, or mistaken identities etc, however based on the way this thread is going, I would like to see it be deleted, and I would think its lifespan will prove to be relatively short.

True - there is someone with the same name as me and a very similar birth date (same year) living in the same suburb - I discovered this at the gym we both go to.
As for forming a posse - I feel that child molesters are fair game - there is no excuse for that crime.

Years ago a friend of mine had his rebuilt gt 351 falcon stolen from his work place in wanganui,it was driving out as he was driving in so he followed them and when they stopped at some traffic lights he got and asked what the fuck they were doing with his car and gave the driver a quick punch in the head they floored it and he lost themso he went to the cop shop who had just had reports of a car doing burnouts in a posh area of wanganui ,by the time he got there the car was stuffed, blew the diff tore the headlining out kicked in the dash etc.One of the people was caught working down the road,my friend reconized him so later that night a vanload of us went to said persons place were we managed to persuade the person to tell us who was driving he was on a bus back to the hawkes bay so we raced ahead of the bus and waited at marton as soon as the doors were open my friend got on to the bus,the guy nearly shit himself and took of out the back door we gave chase and got him cornered in a timber yard, bye this time the cops had turned up and when told of the situation kindly asked how long my friend needed to "SORT HIM OUT" 40min did it he gave him a hell of a hiding and then handed him to the cops he still didn't get paid for getting his car fixed but at least he got some satisfaction.

...
Oh, and we are within about 4 years of age of each other too.
......
But only one of you is stupid enough to carry a beer cap everywhere you go. :bleh:

but there a problem with 'Im going to do xxxxx, because this person did something to me'. that problem is everybody having that attitude, what happens then? your 15 year old daughter cuts off someone in traffic accidentally while learning to drive, and some cunt slits her throat for it.
Do you seriously think that because someone would like to smash the shit outta some arsehole that flogged their stuff, that they would be inclined or capabale of slitting a 15 year old girl's throat for cutting them off?
My experiences with people suggest that usually excessive cannabis use leads to such random & deluded connections & thought patterns.

Here is an idea.
Why not have laws about how we live in our society, a police force to uphold them and a court system to decide penalties. That may work better than vigilante justice?
Somewhere in back of my head I seem to remember that this was tried and failed.

Stolen! My virginity :crybaby:
To the wankers who took it, if I could have just 10 minutes in a dark room alone with you.....
oh fuck, wait a minute... that's how I lost it in the first place
Wankers? As in 'plural'? And one other thing, guys are normally referred to as 'wankers', not girls. Anything else you want to tell us, you've painted a pretty scary image already.

This is a GBR thread, not a RNR thread. Clean it out if you like, we only need posts naming people convicted of crimes related to bike thefts.

Well, as long as you or your mate with same name who lives in same town does not steal a bike you should be fine.
No, Ive NEVER stolen, and id never steal a bike. Id steal someones woman from him, but not his fuckin bike!! But thats exactly the issue, what if some guy and his mates turn up on my doorstep cos someone with a similar name stole their bike/car/gay-sex-toy collection?
I think people also forget about the innocent parties, you go bash some dude up for it, what about kids or a missus being present who freak out, go damage their car, and the kids dont get fed, because mum cant get to work to earn.... its great in theory, and Id sure like to smack the bastards around who steal bikes, but unless I catch someone physically in the act, ill leave that as an 'I wish"
Think someone's a little worried. What did ya steal Tim?

No, but what I AM saying, is that if you set a precedent that says 'its fine to go ahead and get your own justice', then others will do the same. theres a reason we have the cops. they may not always work to our satisfaction, but when you decide to go get revenge, you only start a war. it never ends with a single payback. it escalates, and sooner or later, someone innocent gets fucked over in the crossfire.
and it all starts with people on here, hiding behind a screen name.
Am I the only person who sees the Irony? ultimately annonymous people on a forum, hiding behind a nom de plume, naming and shaming other people? fuck sakes!!:weird:

Tim totally agree with you... and like you "I wish" but unless I physically caught them doing it, that's all I can do... but gawd help any one that gets caught red handed.

and they think that they are annonymous, makes me laugh actually, and they think that nobody can find info on them... trust me its not that hard... (as you well know) :msn-wink:

But the real question is, while some people have been named, have they actually been shamed?
Shame is an emotion or feeling, that only we can put upon ourselves.
If these people chose to steal a bike (or whatever) perhaps other people knowing that, dosent in fact make them feel ashamed. It may actually make them feel proud & somewhat heroic.
The fact is, whatever they feel, they should have & may well have weighed up the consequences before commiting their special crime, which should include being found out & named.
Either way, they dont deserve any respect, as by commiting theft, they have shown no respect.
Should victims hide under a rock & be too afraid to say, "hey, Joe Bloggs the cunt flogged my gear"?
