3 News has obtained a video that shows a woman being shoved to the ground by police during an incident in Takapuna last night.
It was taken by an onlooker who was disgusted by what she felt was a "complete overreaction".

The woman with the camera, who didn't want to be named, said things only calmed down when police noticed what she was doing.
“I think they saw me filming the cop who pushed the lady over... And as soon as they saw me filming they calmed down and changed their attitude,” she says.

To me, rather than the news story angle that the coppers calmed down when they saw they were being filmed, it appeared that the crowd calmed down when shamu hit the deck. They probably realised that if they kept at it, they would get the treatment. This in turn let the cops get on with doing their thing in a more relaxed manner.

She deserved a fuckin good kick in the head. The only thing that would have made this video better would have been if macho-man next to the videographer had hard charged in there to right the injustice of the dumb bitch falling over.

Something tells me that if he did, he would have also ended up on the deck and not been simply left to get up and walk away under his own steam.

Sort of what I thought. The crowd settled down which enabled the Police to ease off ... nothing to do with them being filmed. No problems with that footage. Advance on the Police like that and you can't complain too much if you get pushed back.

My only criticism would be that the cops looked a little scattered and directionless, a senior officer should have stamped their presence upon arrival.

I would think a more assertive arrival to the incident, would have quelled any minor uprising by opportunist AGGRESSIVE drunken ho's sensing the idle and fractured police presence.

1st thought: Do the pricks have more respect for the bouncer than for the police?

He wrote it out then asked if I wanted to see the radar reading ... because it was 135 klicks ... he didn't rant as rave ... just talked about safety on the roads and all that ... and he could have hit me for the 135 klicks ...

He was a nice guy - we had a chat about bikes 'n stuff and went our ways ... I can't complain about that ...

Some cops are good - some are bad ... the older I get the less inclined I am to respond to them badly ... until they prove otherwise ...
