Hi Guys
Need your advice. Went to hop on the bike this morning after a ride last night and the rear tyre is flat. It is the garage but how do I get it repaired. It is tubed tyre so I guess I cant use my tyre repair kit that I had from my tubeless tyre?
It there a mobile service or do I need to get it transported to a bike shop.
Any suggestions appreciated

Remove wheel, remove tyre, patch tube, remount tyre, remount wheel. Simple really.

But I'm not i the position of being able to do it myself.

You wont be riding today, thats a given. When that last happen to me, I got the local Bike shop to come and get the bike, fix the puncture and return the bike to me, all for the very sum of, cant remember now but it was minimal...if you cant do it yourself, ring a bike shop.

I think supercheap sells it.
another option is to jack the rear up and remove the wheel and have cycletreads repair it.

I think Cycletreads do a pick-up service.
Give them a bell and see.

Had the same trouble this morning with the wheel barrow.
Removed wheel, used BMW tyre levers to get tyre off,
fitted new tube,
levered tyre on,
inflated.:msn-wink:
tip: dishwashing liquid on the beads makes it much easier.
watch that you don't pinch tube.
I don't patch tubes unless on a trip.
Modern bikes....got one of them there tubeless kits.
I can't even get the wheels off my modern easliy...:weird:

Realised that I had Roadside Assistance with my Kiwibike insurance so gave the number a bell.
After an lady asking some silly questions like manual or auto and petrol or diesel? And then to top it off with "would you like us to put on the spare wheel for you" they organised a tow truck within about 40mins and off to Cycletreads
About 50 mins later and $55 its all good
So +1 for Kiwibike Roadside assistance - albeit with some funny question and :third: for Cycletreads.
Managed to get in a quick ride in to. My first flatty in over 40,000km of riding so I guess its not too bad eh!

10 points to Kiwibike then aye.
I have done several hundred thousand kms (on a bike) in my life and i can only remember about 3 punctures and 2 were blow outs so i was lucky. If i got a flatty now id sit down and cry lol.

Not everybody walks around with a tyre lever in a ninja sword scabbard on their back... :bleh:
meh... sounds like hard work!
PS for future reference - take bus to work, then call Mortrocycle Doctor to come and do it at your house. Same day, similar cost.

This is the tool kit I carry on the Harley. It has levers, puncher repair kit, I even have a few plugs for tubeless tires and a small bike pump.
I have even been known to help out riders on jap bikes from time to time.

That depends on the bike. My lil Sherpa yeah no problem, but there wouldn't be a hope in hell of fixing a puncture ourselves on my cruisers back tyre. I just got a new rear tyre fitted on it and even with the benefit of a "proper" tyre machine to break the bead etc it took two people to get the tyre half off the rim and was a shit of a job getting the tube in and out because it has an angled value.
It doesn't hurt to at least carry the right size spare tube so at least if you can get your bike (or wheel) transported to somewhere it can be done (which might not be a bike shop) you've got the tube already in case it's beyond patching.

I find it quite :weird: that there are a large number out there who can't fix a puncture on their bike!!! isn't a part of riding?Whilst I change all of the slicks on my minimotos, the only time I've ever had a puncture on a road bike was 17 years ago. Own fault, tyre was completely raped.
I can't see how it could be a part of riding if it just never happens? I'm guessing you're old and spent your youth on old shit heaps?
/edit: Besides which, roadside rescue comes with my insurance, I'd just ring it and let some other nigger worry about it

Pump it up and ride it. If it doesn't pump it up and it's still on the rim (likely with a stiff has hell tubeless tyre) then ride it to repair shop below 50.

There are a lot of places in NZ where cell phones don't work and its a long walk to the next farm house. I just think it is a skill that is useful to have. I hope I never need it. No centre stand on the Zeplin.
The other day I fixed a puncher in the Landrover, didn't have to but I wanted to know that I could fix a light truck tire in the field if I have to. Oh it was a kunt to fix.

Yes I went through a "do it myself" stage once. Rebuilt an entire Landy SWB from one chassis to another. I have now learnt my lesson, dont feel I have anything to prove, and (happily) pay people to do it.

Well I asked for it.
Got a puncher today, western valley road, no cell phone coverage and it was raining. Took 40 min but I fixed it. Inflated it with my trusty bike pump and went on my way.

Fate only throws punches at those that can handle them. Thats why I don't carry a puncture repair kit...

I see Motomail sell a Motul tyre repair can that claims to not damage the tyre, contains latex and suitable for tubeless and "tube" tyres - all for $30 per can.
Has anyone used such a product? If you did - thoughts/comments. Do you think its of any value?
Thanks in advance
