After receiving a renewal letter in the mail for my car from state. I thought it's about time I got my bike insured as well while I have money from a summer job. 3rd party just for the car renewal from state was $292 (Yay for being an 18 year old male). And they quoted me about the same for the bike.

I thought, you know I hear great things about AMI so I might as well see what they come up with. Had a good long conversation on the phone to some helpful staff who decided I deserved full no claims bonus for not claiming in the past 3 (almost 4) years of insurance, while state don't give any no claims bonus unless you are on full comprehensive.

Absolutely lovely of them, and I just ended up paying $216 FOR BOTH THE BIKE AND CAR 3RD PARTY!!! :bleh:

Cheers AMI, you made my day! Apparently $49 for 3rd party on a bike with them, guess they actually know that the bike does a lot less damage to other peoples property than a car!!!

Meh, why would they?

My last "Third Party" quote from State was $8 per annum.

WHAT!? Guess that's one good thing about getting older, insurance will become a bucket load cheaper when I have a bucket load more money! Full insurance with AMI would be $572 for my bike, which is cheap considering other companies but still much too expensive for me. So I guess I hope I don't bomb my bike else I won't be able to be on one for another few years.

It's $572 because of the value of your bike

I truly hope that you phoned Kiwibike Insurance and chatted with them?

Having left AMI to get a better deal with Kiwibike, I am more than happy to save a fair bit of $$$'s.

We got a slightly better deal for Mrs Oakie's bike thru Kiwibike Ins. but there wasn't much in it. AMI have always treated me well.
