Go Out and Buy yourself a set of LEVI RED TAGS!
Was commuting to work in typical fashion wearing jeans and leather jacket... came into a right hand uphill offcamber corner and plodded the knee out 'sif i was on the track and let her down :gob:
God allmighty does it BURN! But im proud to say the Levi Red tags did stand up to the test and only got a black round mark on outta edge of knee, not one frayed thread!!! approx 30kmph corner and touched down fairly firmly for 1-2seconds.
Couldnt believe it as i hate my old crossply metzlers, but they were not too bad but i got into a wobble/slip trying to bring the bike back up putting on power. Main thing, no scratches on bike (apart from Real minor on hero blob) and i learnt the lesson of friction/heat :( will post pic of jeans when i plug webcam back in. untill then, Go the levi's!!

I went down the road once wearing a pair of green Levi cord flares....well,it was a 70s thing y'know :o I was sliding for so long I got burns from the rivets and my leather belt was totaled....the cords? not a mark on them.I had to wear the ugly things for a couple more years till they wore out!

I guess this would count as KK squidness.....getting the knee down on a public road without knee sliders:D
You only got your knee down on the track a few weeks ago, now you're trying to do it everywhere. Is this a pattern for anything new that you try? lol

funnily enough none of the times my knee has gone down have I been wearing knee sliders. In fact my knee sliders never went down before bing sold.
Have however fucked a set of leathers (accdental knee down ended up involving two knees down).
Have also accidentally downed then getting to carried away when I was to young to know better (back when I was a fast but bad rider, Now I'm slow but getting better!). runied several pairs of levis but never on the first go.
gosh round abouts can be fun if well designed.
My last knee down was in my workpants and i almost filled them when I suddenly felt the roundabout pushing back!

Ah yes the seventys,A great time fer, sure.
Was riding a mates Triumph chop one time, pulled up at the local uncles,ye all remember uncles right?.
Anyway I went to drop her on the stand an caught my flares on the foward controls, went down an caught it from hiting the deck by holding it up with my head, thank god for helmets aye,So there I am, one leg stuck to the peg laying half on the road half draped over the bike, holding the lot up with me head an nobody even laughed,Bloody flares,I would a pissed me self if I saw that.
So why do ya, want to put ya, knee on the road anyway??

One of the racers in the US was telling me about a money spiner where the racers sell partially used knee sliders to squids so the squids can make it look as if they got their knee down. The call them "Squid Skids". Apparently in the prod classes they also sell tyres to people (no chicken stripes).

Cause its so much fun!! AND somehow I have a feeling that I can go faster with the knee down for various reasons. Not sure if i'd try it with jeans on thoe, no matter what type.

OK... Fine the US side...
The puck swap... Na, no one here (east coast) is that creative; they just get take em off and scrap em across the ground by hand then put em back on.
And as for the tires... The 'race' take offs are legit, especially for those who do a number of track days. Some of the racers will use a set for one session (practice, not race) and sell them off. They maybe no good to the original rider but someone else maybe able to get a few more good track days out of them and for a fraction of the cost.

Even better get yourself on a kiddies rounbabout and drag your knee (remember to rotate the roundabout both ways) to get a real authentic knee slider scrape.:D

I burnt a hole through my synt. trou when I went over the 'Taka's and forgot I wasn't in leathers. Jeans are good tho - get some friction - but usually don't tear through.

aww damn! so its already been done? :( that just sucks... right, has anybody put their knee down wearing boardies? if not then thats it im going to be the first man in a pair of shorts to put his naked knee down.
and Firefight... all is truth 'cept for the "Hes in love" bit!!! :angry2: i aint no fool like that, i only get that attached to my bikes., erm, and i mean that in a strictly NON-Sexual way.

Riding in shorts is just plain fucken stupid
Ever smacked a cats eye with your knee down - well fuck me if that doesn't bring tears to your eyes, by god it hurts and you end up with one hell wicked bruise. You would think I would of learnt but I hit the same cats eye on the Rimutakas three times......was tempted to go and remove it. But then I decided to try and scrap it off with the engine cover of my bike and my head!

Shorts are stupid? Well I ambled home behind a rider with Jacket, shorts and leather sandals riding in a rather foot first sort of way. I don't think there was any chance of a knee down from him.

I highly recommend chainsaw pants for tarseal contact, the armour works pretty damn well. At 130$ a pair they are good value!

You reckon!? I got knocked off at a poxy 30 kmhs, put some nice holes in the jeans I was wearing and I'm still sporting the scars. I'd hate to think what would happen if I went for a road flight at my usual speeds in jeans.
I'm getting the willies just musing on it.. i'm off to put my armoured one-piece on!!

I don't particularly but my knees tend to touch down before the hero blobs do on sports or sport touring bikes.

Intentionally was the wrong word. I meant - touch your knee in the normal course of riding as opposed to when you fall off.
Most times I have touched my knee down without my sliders on has caught me entirely by surprise - whilst I knew I was close to the road - I didn't quite think I was that close.
Always prefer to have the sliders on because you can stay in contact with the road for a longer period (provided you don't hit diesel and then fly off the other side of the bike and land on your head that is) without damaging yourself or your clothes.
I had the Technic race sliders - and I must say they lasted ages. I have some titaniums (yes poncy I know) - but there wear out hell quick - gr8 fun at night tho.

well just scored myself some newer gear, Nibo is the brand or somthing like that, 2 piece stuff like the spool/spidi gear ucommonly see around. That now means i have the Dri Rider and this stuff, yet i still prefer the 80's leather jacket and a warm pair of levi's! who also loves the whole jacket and jeans thing?

I used to love it before I came off during a ride and couldn't walk for 2 weeks. The doc said I was very close to not being able to run, skate, ski etc again! From now on, If I plan to ride faster than normal commuting speeds, I wear the full protection.

'bout bloody time mate, if it was you I saw on Monday arvo fanging a red/white VFR through the Mt Albert Rd/New North Rd intersection, T-shirt flapping in the breeze... gave me the screaming heebie-jeebies imagining what a thusly-unprotected upper half would look like after 30m of pavement surfing.

And that, my friends, is why you should all wear Draggins if you want to wear jeans. Great fitting and stylie jeans on and off the bike, and the kevlar really does work!

I heard a tale once about a chap who got his knee down on the way back from Beachlands. Clipped a cats eye. Shattered his knee cap. :gob:
