That's not a chopper you want a ride on, man.
You can pay to have a much more fun ride in a chopper, though.

It's a pretty well run event, usually a good number of bikes turning up, and for once, the cops help us stay safe by holding back traffic and giving us room.
From a charity perspective, bring along an extra chunk of change to donate; the WestPac helo saves lives, and motorbicyclists tend to fall off the road in remote places...
I think I've missed one in about the last 6 years? HelloKitty, ride with us if you'd like.

I'm keen to - depends on what my work is doing at that point, though.
Always keen to support the chopper - I know someone whose life was saved by them. They're an awesome bunch of people!

Thank you - that would be cool, I didn't really want to go on my own. It is a great cause and I plan to bring the $$$ with me.

I wish I could... :bye: But not allowed to ride for a long time, if again...:crybaby:
I don't think they'd let me join in the MX5 either, so I guess I'll have to miss it this year. :(

See you there HelloKitty. I'll be coming up from Tauranga, and I'm sure there'll be at least a couple of other Tauranga Ulysees Club members along too.
Look for a silver and burgundy Hyosung GV250, I wear a white helmet and a fluoro yellow hi-viz. Oh, and Gloria has had a pipe=ectomy too, so she'll be noticeable.
Shit, that probably means leaving here at some time before 7.00 am. OMG, that's worse than a work day!

Well, I wear a white and pink jacket (look at the profile pic) and ride a silver Honda VT750 with a pink hello kitty sticker on the back guard. Come up and say hi cos I will probably be a bit shy on my own. I would like to join Ulysees but you have to be over 40 don't you?
Old Steve
26th January 2011, 18:22
Yeah, the Ulysees Club is for the older rider.
However I'm sure your local branch wouldn't mind you riding with them for 15 to 20 years until you're old enough to join.
Go onto ulysees.co.nz and find out where your local club meets, usually on a Sunday morning, and turn up and introduce yourself. They won't bite your head off.
Will keep an eye out on March 6th.

Yes, but it can be just a bit of a formality. If you turned up at a ride or a clubnight or two, it would very likely take care of itself.
You could always smile nicely at me.

I will try that then! I want to ride with people with a "mature" outlook. The only group ride offers I get are from young boys on sports bike and they ride like crazy fools.

Can anyone help Nina out?
I can't because I have never taken a pillion before and I do not have the experience to try it for a big ride like the westpac heilcopter ride (or any ride)- plus my bike is too small for 2 girls!
Nina is saving hard out to go for her learners and to buy a bike of her own - she is keen as to get her own wheels, but obviously this won't happen before the 6th March

If anyone could help me out and pillion me on on the ride i'd be able to get a ride to their place no trouble so they wouldn't have to pick me up.
Thanks

Yep, I'll ride with you, so long as you promise to let me at the pie warmer first. Blue GSXR1000, dumb looking old fart on it.

We arrived at Karaka a bit late this morning (9.45) and we parked at the back. Was nice to meet some fellow KBers - Old Steve, Nasty, Fatt Max (my husband calls him the pie man), Tink and her partner.
Was good to see some WIMA girls there too.
(Sorry to the random guy that I was sure I knew but apparently not. He looked a little nervous )
Was a fun ride, the biggest group ride I have ever been in. The weather held out until the ride was finished, and only rained as we were all getting food and coffee.
Went to the bike thing in Devonport after but didn't stay long as Mr Hellokitty wanted to go to my parents as it was lunchtime and they have better food at their house then we have at ours hahahaha.
Did anyone else go?

Hey there Edbear, was a damn fine ride this year, about 1000- 1500 bikes I reckon.Well behaved motorway cruise with two patrol vehicles in attendance creating our very own fast(90-100 K) lane.Hard work on the wifes little 400, but worth it.
Missed almost all of the rain, copped a few drops going through town, was about all.
Both choppers involved in work activites so only one showed up on the way to a job, gave us all a head nod and shot through.
A credit to Sis and the rest of the Ulysseian's who organsied, marshalled and produced this year, thanks guys and girls.
Had a blast riding witht the Fat Barstards Motorcycle Club, cheers Max.
Caught up with some old friends and overall had a damn good morning ride for a brilliant cause.

And what an emotional experience that was, I can tell you....
A great day, met some really cool people, thanks Cas for allowing only the plumpest of riders to RV at your gaff (Oi wheres the f*****g flag...???). Nice drop of coffee from the missus as well, very well received.
Just nice to spend the day with a diverse group of people who have the love of motorcycles in common. Also nice to do some good rather than mob up and make a noise in protest, there is always time for that but I reckon you should always grab the opportunity to go for a ride with great people and raise some hard cash for a good cause.
Lots of humour there as well, countless number of classic, floor slamming one liners, too many to mention.
And so many good people who will take the time to show you their bike and let you into the history of it.
A great bunch of people to share a day with, I am humbled to be part of this today.
Thanks all, ride safe and eat well.
PS to the Jenny Craig rep I met in the reception area of the sports hall...sorry darling, I purposley gave you a false name, address and telephone number....happy hunting xx
