Apparently Qantas is the safest airline in the world!

Their planes may fall from the skies on a regular basis however amazingly no one dies

They're just trying to use up the 500,000 plastic coffins stored by FEMA.

And last night an Air New Zealand jet had to turn back due to bird strike. Hey this is what the Pilot's are trained to do. They turn back and land rather than fly on when everything isn't perfect. Hence their high safety record.

I will admit that Qantus have had a lot more of these issues since they a) moved their maintenence contract from Air New Zealand to Asia, and b) since they started flying Airbus aircraft, but they still haven't lost an aircraft.

If they can do emergency landing, that means they are great.
It's those that can't land that I'd be worried about.

Yep - never lost a jet. They should have though:

The aircraft was repaired at great expense to preserve Qantas's record of never losing a jet aircraft and was returned to service

As they say:

"There may be bold pilots and there may be old pilots, but there are no old, bold pilots"

or

"The definition of a good pilot is one who has as many successful landings as takeoffs"
