I have been told she wants electric start:msn-wink:
Well,Im in the middle of the conversion of the CB250RS into a 500,so now I am looking for a FT500 engine with starter and wiring loom or complete bike I dont care if its dereg or seized as I am doing a complete rebuild anyway...
The main parts I am after is the lefthand side engine cover,rotor and starter motor set up and wiring loom
I can arrange pick from both north and south Islands,just PM me if you have anything

Not sure exactly what you area after here, an FT500 motor or starter for a modification to an existing bike or a whole FT500? But....
I used to have one and spent a bit of time learning about keeping it going on a yahoo owner group

from what I understand it's an XL 500 with kick start removed and starter retro fitted.
They are notorious for starting problems and piss poor design of the starter kick out mechanism. Might be not such a good model to use although it can be sorted out ok. Just a thought.

What I have at the moment is a CB250rs bottom end and have just fitted the top crank case, Barrel and head from a XR500,
I dont mind kick start but XR's can be a bitch and you know how many brownie points an electric start is worth...yeah the teething problems can be sorted out
