Hey R, thanks for the visitor message cos I would have most likely missed the thread.

Ok so Spring Creek... is that were the rally was held several years ago? under the bridge leading to Picton in Blenhiem?

The reason I miss most RT rallys is due to the weekend its held on as I race at Greymouth, however Im kinda retired for now from racing so will be keen to do the TR, Ill inform the canty guzzi riding rabble of this thread.

Hi, OK, Spring Creek is about 5 minutes out of Blenheim, but still a cool spot to hang out for a rally. Google it, for specific location info. We are trying to organise for an option on the Sunday ride to go to Greymouth for the Street Races so stay tuned for more details! Yeah, its not at cheese factory, its after that and before Blenheim. The map link should help ya (It is where you turn off to go to Nelson) Just look for the pub on the corner, hope to have big Moto Guzzi banner hanging on the side of it.

Awesome, yeah hanging out around the pub and we have rented the Rugby Club Halls (just 50m down the road from Pub) for the Saturday Night function, and the Sunday spit roast will be in the car parking area behind the pub.
If you are staying at the camping grounds the Junction Hotel are putting on Courtesy Bus to take you back and forth :)
They are all well warned and waiting for us!

Booked my ferry sailings for there and back this week.
Those in the north island better get onto it soon... because of the rugby world cup the sailings around the time of the rally are filling up especially on the Friday so get in there:yes:

Going to spend a few extra days and head south and over the Haast to the east coast and back up. May as well eh?

Rachel- if you have a furtherest travelled prize, I am riding down with my mate from the far north, hopefully we will both make it as the bikes will be some of the oldest there:facepalm:

It's definitely the reg/rectifier. They're getting in a good quality Jap one (apparently the guzzi ones are expensive and crap). Also putting in an extra earth to help.

So hopefully not too far away, already been a week without it :(

Also going to touch up the black paint everywhere that needs doing, eg top triple clamp, mirrors, all that awesome Italian finish...:facepalm:

Been considering doing a tail tidy for her as well because that ugly rear guard is an eyesore on the otherwise gorgeous lines.
Any ideas?

I have to get all the tappet cover bolts replaced and the heads rethreaded :blink:....all thanks to the idiot previous owner, who locktighted them!....locktight...on a service point!:facepalm:

But on a good note:
Im gonna try riding again this weekend :woohoo:....see if the shoulder will hold up after the "4x4 incident".....REALLY looking forward to it. (Not enjoying the car trips into work at all....stupid design!...to many wheels!)

Locktight the rocker cover bolts?? Sheezus !!

I've been careful with my rocker cover gaskets everytime I've pulled the cover off and never needed to replace them. They don't leak either.

Been considering doing a tail tidy for her as well because that ugly rear guard is an eyesore on the otherwise gorgeous lines.

I've been careful with my rocker cover gaskets everytime I've pulled the cover off and never needed to replace them. They don't leak either.
Maybe after 5 years I should think about it though.... :yes:I never replaced my sport gasgets... I'm sure its a bad batch.

So just finished my winter over haul, run around the block next and a detail and ready for summer and the rally.
Dont think any of you other v11 guys have a 04 aye? the cross over pipe is a shit, to get to the alt it needs removing and never seals again, but I devised a plan and that is to get a tie down and pull the two headers hard togeather then tighten every thing.. ohh and as other v11 owners ill find the alt cover gets a hiding from the frount wheel so I gave it a repaint.

Balance pipe? I did read once the reason for them, look back at older modles and most have had them of some sort, nowdays we have the cross over under the engine, IIRC the balance pipe brings beter responce down low down. buggereed if I know :blink:

I'm having issues with the cam followers for it, now unobtanium and the metal is some weird shit they can't get a coating to stick to that will survive machining. Lucky for me it is only one of the 4 out of spec with some scoring on the cam face.
Got my crankshaft back and they did not machine the correct bevel after undersizing which is really importand otherwise they crack or or heaven forbid break- so they are having another go:facepalm:
Then it has to go to Dr Bob for balancing...then I can reassemble the motor and from there it is all down hill...:blink:

Should have bought a modern one eh?

I was in contact with Miles only a few weeks back as we were going to do this rally old school. He only had a few bits of wiring to finish on his Falcone... and he was ribbing me about the state of undress my Ambo is in right now.
He was a nice guy, so talented in engineering, such a shame.

On the positive front, I have found the one and only supplier that has cam followers.
At $75 each, I'm glad I only need one... better still it is a US company so a few other goodies went in the bag as well. The exchange rate is too tempting not to.

farking Iti's... bikes sat for a month or so but on the battary minder, last time I ran it was after a service, just putted round the blockafter... but today as we are on the move I had to take it to thunders for storage, bastard thing is only running on 1 n a half, fine at low revs but missing up a bit, *HUMPH* did it not like sitting, did I fark the valve clearances up, did I fit a dud plug, loose wire... shit could be a milloion things, so when thats 'when' I get the chance Ill pull it apart again and start from the begining. :angry:

yeah well had the chance yesterday to re check valve clearances, all good as I expected, all wiring and plumbing as Id expect however the new plugs were a bit loose... reasembled and well bitch of a thing is all well again so either it had a shit on with me the other day or a loose plug (not 'that' loose was the issue.

Rear brake pads are ordered for the Cali so bike will be all set to go. Registration form and cheque in the mail tomorrow, (almost forgot):facepalm: Looking forward to our first Guzzi rally. Won't be there until Saturday morning as we cannot get away until after work on Friday. Roll on Labour weekend!!!

I know of a Cali in identical colours to the one in the 4th pic, sadly it is in bad need of a cosmetic refurbish as it has been sitting for a long time without proper cover.:(

Probably need new forks too due to corrosion on the shafts.

Hi y'all!

Just a quick update from me tonight as I am a little shattered...thanks to everyone who came it was AWESOME!
The Magni did get quite a few votes but was pipped at the post, but sure was a beautiful thing - thought it was Peter's Magni?
Took heaps of pics - will put some on here tomorrow and a whole bunch on Facebook.
To be confirmed re next year we hope to get a crew together to do Waipukarau...as for us in 2013 we will be heading to Greymouth (or nearby)

Great weekend alright!
I don't have many pictures of the actual rally part so thanks to the posters for their err.. posts.
We did a lot of shingle exploration in the general area and it was great as were the group rides with everyone.
Big thanks to Russ for the loan of his tyre levers and to the organisers for a fantastic weekend. I had to go back to the pub on Monday night as it is hard to find such a big meal for around $10 even if I had to travel from Picton for it.
