Anyone use one of thses on their bike.

Im looking for recommendations of models. Best pace to mount it, easy conections and general stuff.

Qestion also, how do you know/hear when its picked up a radar unit.

Thanks for any help.

you will find tons of info on this subject on this site by searching for it.

i had mine mounted on a tank mount, now its in a tank bag. way more convienient as i can carry shit in there aswell!

i use a walkman type earphone to one 1 ear only, works fine. saved me plenty of times, but also makes me monitor my speed more closely and use my eyes a lot more too..

u can not rely on it 100 % in case the cops just turn it on when pointing it at you( instant on) in that case, its too late. i ve never experienced that.

my detector usually goes off a few seconds before the cop comes into view, giving plenty of time to take action if need be

whats the easiest part of the bike electrics to wire them into?

Easiest or best?
Best is to an ignition source (with relay) so when bike is off so is radar...no flat battery.

Depends on the bike but usual place is off the tail light feed through a fuse (2A - 5 A is more than enough) and off to the detector.

Someone back said "another waving thread" ...
Well it ain`t, because unlike waving, radar detectors and the like are always being improved (evolving) to combat the latest traffic radar/laser units.
If someone posts an update on the latest radar/laser detection that I don`t know of, then that`s good news in my book.
Hit the mighty search button, and you`d all be wiring up Cobras or whatever.

Oh, and if you are one that never exceeds the posted speed limit , like ever, then please ignore the above.

Well it ain`t, ......................
Well yes it is. I have got tired of the times I have posted with links to information given. So this time I can't be bothered.

A prompt on the site "before you start a new thread use the search" may help.

For most other areas of the site, crap getting posted adds to interest eg "General Bike Ravings", however, the "Bike Gear" forum is where I expect some order to prevail.

Yeah, whatever dude...
As I said, it`s "good news in my book" , as in I like it.

Isn't there a search function when you enter the title for your new thread?

I wired mine up straight to the battery with a fuse to a cigarette lighter socket.

I never use my radar detector on my bike because it just falls off within 1km of riding.
