Ok so websites are my "thing" and specifically community websites.

I've been known to run a very large linux support site, had a go at running a motorbike website (but y'know .. why re-invent the wheel?), now I'm having a go at running a gamers sites, specifically a gamers competition site.

I'll be giving away a Steam game every month for the next 12 months (maybe longer if it works).

About me: I'm a closet gamer .. you might not know when you meet me, but I'm a fairly hardcore Steam player, owning a host of games, and clocking hours and hours of playtime .. mostly in Team Fortress 2 :) plus some call of duty, bad company 2, etc .. and proudly sporting some mean hats in tf2 (including unusuals).

So now I've chucked together some software, as well as coded some stuff myself.
I want to grow to a point where the site can pay for some game servers.
I guess I'm competing with game planet and gpforums, but they don't give away games :P

February I'll be giving away Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

there is no catch, it's just me .. currently the entire project is funded by me, that's the hosting, the software, and the games; but I have already had offers of games to give away :D

anyways, there's the pitch .. fancy joining? get into it http://www.fps.net.nz

tl;dr free steam games at http://www.fps.net.nz

It'd be interesting to see how many bikers are gamers. I guess the KB crowd may be a bit more technologically savvy on average. I don't even own a console :shit:

Everyone in this flat plays Bad Company 2. Two play on my PS3 two on my PC.

Don't actually need any more games and don't really feel the need to be part of another community.

Likewise my gaming has changed over the years and now I pretty much play games for story likes than pwning.
People keep telling me that Reach is really good played on live, but I am quite content on solo.

I would be keen but I dropped PC gaming a few years back (just costs too much, & way too much hassle sometimes just to get things to work ) so all my gaming now is PS3, insert & play couldn't be simpler :D

wow ..... console gamers :)

I'm pretty sure you can't play first person shooters properly on a console

mind you, I've never tried ... the family have the tv; I would have to contest for time. My pc is all mine, in my own office :)

but yes, it does cost a bit. Every year I think about spending more on hardware :shit:

Play L4D2 alot, but not online much. Too many wankers out there. I long for the early days of beta Counter Strike, or even Action Quake2. :)

I would be interested if I wasn't slightly out of town so therefore get rubbish ping and download speeds.

Also if I could afford to keep a PC up to date/spec for gaming.

So for me it is console too, but not online as I die all the time, that gets boring after a while.

Still think gaming on PC rocks, but moves so quick that your rig is out of date really fast.

xbox 360 bad company two, probably the hardest gaming machine to play it on but it is so fun and thats what i have, bloody epic game if you play it right!

just had a knee op so been playing online alot. I reckon theres no point playing the solo campaign.

what do you guys think of veitnam? have played them a bit but i'm more into the standard online maps.

PS this is the first fps i have truely played and it is awesome to be able to chat to others and actually work as a team to take the enemy down!

I used to be PC gamer, but its more fun spending $$$ on games each year and only buying a new console every 5 years.

To a certain extent your right, but seeing as you come from a pc gaming background you'd pick it up pretty damn quick and the controls are adjustable so you can be pretty hardcore at it. Like jumping prone mid 1 on 1 fight in mw2 for example can be really effective, but hardly anyone does it.

The amount of money you spend on hardware etc on pc is roughly how much a year?

Buying a tv is so cheap now, for roughly $700 you'll get a 32' full hd or even hd ready (all a ps3 and xbox can go to when playing a game is 720p) unless the blu ray player is key to you. But my guess is you have a good tv in the lounge for blu ray.

Slap that tv in your office and your away. Heck you could even make the 32' your computer monitor while your at it:yes:

The best pc game I played was call of duty 2, people still play it :sunny:

spent $1500 every year for the last 3 years .. currently eyeing up another rig for $1800 ish

also I've spent (insert stupid amounts here) on games .. mind you I know people with more games than me :)

however I am in IT and have been my entire life ... had to count up all the PC's in my house for insurance recently .. it's a crazy amount.

I haven't bought Vietnam, but I know a few that have, and they swear buy it ... probably should've bought Vietnam instead of that silly breach I bought this week :)

oh well .. Steam games are often gambles :D
