I'm going to show up, probably with my bike. I doubt I will be doing any laps though, I want things to have a good chance to heal.
However my Dad has had a couple of goes at buckets on a few practice days and loved it. I am in the process of twisting his arm to come ride my bike and test the new parts for it (guinea pig).

Yeah, my regular morning motion if brewing nicely right now but its Dave I'm worried about. He has put the hard word on me about finishing my carb upgrade, if he sees the old carb again he will poo in it.
Its going to be a tight squeeze.
I mean that is in finishing it in time as I still have a bit of work to do when we go pick up the bucket.
However if it doesn't work it may be a tight squeeze again jamming a poo all the way into that tiny wee hole...

Awesome day.
The late start was really good, but sure made for a late finish.
My bike was going good, and the front brakes were actually working so that helped the confidence.
Thanks to Andrew's pep talk at the start of the day I was lapping way quicker than last month. Bring on the next round.

Waaaaaa obviously 3 applications of sunblock to face just wasn't enough today!
Then again, shouldn't complain, couldn't have asked for better weather for it!! Soon enough we'll all be standing about getting wet and cold and bitching about it ;)
Had a good day, I felt like I was going ok today, apart from the last race where I'd kinda given up the will to live a little cause I was frying in my leathers!
Best part for me was watching Caleb riding today!! Far out, awesome riding!! The other highlight was watching Dave trying to keep Rangi's front wheel on the ground! Hahaha, just watched the video, will have to do some editing because I suck at videoing stuff and there's only a wee bit because I start videoing the grass because I'm laughing so hard!!
Thanks to Skunk and Nigel for making sure me and Rangi got out there with my new forks and working brakes, and thanks also to Dave and Malcolm for the quick repairs and making sure I got up to the grid on time for my race, megafast mechanics!! Thanks Hels for the lend of a clip-on and Craig for the lend of your tools. Buckets eh, what it's all about! :D

Yeah, I had a pretty good day actually being able to ride my bike without my hand killing me. Shame about *that* race start though..... On the look out for some forks (FXR) if anyone knows anyone that is selling any.
Cheers for a great day Fish!

Great day. Luck was on my side. Being able to walk away from a very fast crash. All down to a home made throttle slide cover gasket sicking my throttle on full in 6th gear at the end of the start Finnish straight. I actually had a nightmare about it last night. Scariest thing that has happened to me on a bucket. Great days racing was good to be able to hang in with fish again. Last race was fast. Really enjoyed watching the B grade races. There were some epic battles all through the field with some hard racing. Thanks to Fish and Nigel for working so hard through the day.
Bring on the next one.

The A grade racing was awesome to watch but I must say the B graders were putting on an awesome show! So much passing! Awesome number of riders out there too. Very, very tempted to get an RG50 like Sully's and have a go.
Well done Fishy for organizing the event, it's very cool to see so many numbers representing buckets in Welly!

Yeah thanks to the Fishie. Well run & interfaced to the Kart club.
Just a point about flag marshalling. The last A grade race we were short a marshalling point at the top of the track (left).
ok so its more fun to stay & yak in the pits, but this racing lark only works if others do some work into running it. So either we bring along some mates to help or we do some flagging ourselves. The B grade races were covered by the A grade guys (& some Stalwards like Dave Freeman), but there were 2 or 3 times as many B graders, it shouldn't be hard to share it out.
Do we need to hold a 5 min flag marshalling school if people aren't sure what to do?
Additionally it is a bit of yakka to get up to the two far points. Perhaps someone could throw an old bike in their wagon which they don't mind people using to get to the top points. I've been looking out to happen upon one to donate to the club but nothing has popped up.
Can someone bring one along & we'll see how it works out cycling to the top in leathers. Maybe it is too hard, but it could be ok & the return trip would be easy.

Good idea re the bike heading up to the top.
I don't know why there would be a lack of flag people for the A grade race, there were so many of us.
It's a great opportunity to see other riders lines as Fishy said at the start of the day. We may need to sell the opportunity more. Perhaps the newer people are not sure what to do so are nervous and need a little guidance.

Ummm, some guidance of what to actually do and where to look while flagging would be good too. No point "flagging" if you don't know what to do.

So true.
Maybe drag a newbie out when possible, would be harder for most A graders unless not racing or have a broken bike.
Shit that was a good day, Cheers all, I had heaps of fun.

to quote myself:
I think we do. In fact maybe just a reminder to everyone of which way to look when when you're flagging and how to use the flags would be good. You're not actually there to watch the race (unless you end up out there with nowhere to go like I did at one point) but to watch the corners between your flag point and the next flag point. And to be honest, I wouldn't even bother with the blue flag, it gets used so sparatically and often incorrectly that I usually ignore it now and just keep my eyes and ears out for lapping riders. I've noticed the Kart guys when they flag for us put that blue flag out and often the person behind is actually the person you've been holding off all race, or the lapping rider is half the track away still.

Yep, happened to me as few times and almost ended in tears at one point.
I also noticed at one point when Rich had a wee lie down by the pits the person flagging at that point didn't notice a thing cause they were looking the completely wrong way (towards the bikes rather than watching the corner the bikes are approaching...)
I have had ALOT of flagging experience and am happy to put my hand up to help teach at a quick meeting, if anyone wants to take me up on the offer let me know.....

That's cool, we just don't need to play the blame game. It just highlights however that we could all do with brushing up on our flagging and marshaling skills, no matter how young, old or experienced.

Just trying to back up the suggestion that some people may need training to assist them to do a better job or to at least feel comfortable doing it.....

Hey guys
Figured it was about time I posted in the ol Bucket forum.
Thanks heaps for the awesome day, especially to Fishie! Oh yeah and a big thanks to the dude that lent me the brake lever after my wee incident!
The day was great fun, I'm a little bit bruised after crashing, but no broken bones unlike some of the other poor buggers round here hahaha.
The old CB is a bit wobbly in the front end now though, not sure what the problem is yet, somehow the front wheel seems to be able to move from side to side while the handle bars stay still ... hmmm...
I'll be sorted by round 3 I'm sure.
Cheers!

Check the spokes are all tight, the easiest way it check them is to run a crescent handle ( or something steel make sure its solid) over the spokes the lose ones will make a hollower noise. Then the only other thing is the wheel bearing. then frame forks motor etc
