5-10 years ago, with EFTPOS being so widely available I stopped carrying cash, downgraded to a small wallet and had about 5-6 cards (eftpos, license, company eftpos and credit card, blood card, client access card).

Then... oh, well, I get subway regularly, so I should probably get a sub card as it will make it cheaper in the long run. Then a couple of months ago, well, I fill with Shell so much, we'll get another card attached to the family Flybuys, and the odd other thing, like VTNZ. Free, since you're buying anyway (I don't alter my buying habits just for the cards, but if I'm buying anyway...).

A week or two ago I bit the bullet and joined the AA, for AA Plus. The amount of time I'm riding anywhere in the country, at any time of day, the odds are now against me that something is going to happen somewhere, so for $134 pa its a bargain when I do 45k ish a year, and they'll fetch me, get me home etc. Of course, this comes with a card, which I must have if I make a call, so I have to carry that at all times...

Supermarket buying, if you stick to Countdown, they have onecard, which gives you discounts, again, you're buying anyway, so I'm going to get one (see my blog on 2010 Christmas Tour to see how I "discovered" the value of supermarkets).

Ta-da, I've now got myself a normal sized wallet again, and with the Onecard I'll be up to 10 cards. Wallet is just card sleeves, no coin pouch (don't need one).

Can't wait for microchips, then I won't need all these damn cards :woohoo:

I'm sure others have far more, but I try to limit the number I have (I am a guy after all), then the wallet easily fits in my jacket.

Once again, gremlin manages to complicate his life more ... no doubt something will occur which will invalidate all his cards and he will be stranded in the middle of no where needing cash!

I carry cellphone with eftpos card and drivers license attached to it in my pocket. If I need more than that there is just enough room under the pillion seat for my wallet (squeezed between the tyre pressure gauge, tyre repair kit and basic tool kit)

I don't think it will be very long before smartphones will be able to take care of most of the functions currently being done by plastic cards.

Just don't lose your phone.

Or have your phone go flat. Sent me into a right proper spin when I woke up to find instead of charging it went flat.

I already struggle without my crackberry addiction, so adding functionality will just make it more convenient.

There is pago, but it doesn't seem to have taken off yet.

I feel ya.

I now have two cards, one a cc, the other my license. Everything else I've biffed, I don't need loyalty cards, and my phone already knows my membership numbers.

yep, when I travel, in may wallet is my CC, DL and blood donor card for some odd reason.
A bit of cash and that is it.

I don't worry about the loyalty cards either, especially coffee cards, if they are making a good cup of coffee, they don't need to bribe me back. I am happy to pay for each cup.

Never got into the flybys and shit like that.
