Just rang the dealer , $2k:gob::gob::gob::facepalm:
Going to look into a repair.
A couple weeks back I was tearing up a backwater road here in the Wairarapa at dusk and hit a freakin rock some imbecile left on my part of the road, I was doing a fair clip (howling like a banshee comes to mind) and the entire bike was launched into the air.
Didn't really think of it again until I brought the bike into work so I could have a quick getaway back to Wanganui, me and one of the lads were havin a chat when I noticed a bastard of a dent in the rim, on closer inspection I found the rim is split.
So yeah, Not the exiting story you may have envisioned, but its ruined me day:shit:

Surely you can get some lighter aftermarket wheels for $2000! Time to bling your bike out.

Arse! Insurance excess is much cheaper than new wheels. If that is not an option, put a call out inthe racing forums, I have seen wheels for sale in there.

And that was the cheap option.
My bike being the anniversary model has a "hand painted" pin stripe on her, They had a separate order number for it but no price as it has to be manufacured to order....:shit:
I wonder how many more thousand to get a wheel out of the store room and stick on a pin-stripe....

Ebay might be worth looking at, I'd rather have an undamaged wheel than a repaired one. need a later model though then those linked.

Rimrite Alloys in Palmerston North. These guys do great work. I had several alloy rims repaired when I was racing open wheelers (including one with a 60mm x 40mm chunk missing out of it) and all the wheels came back looking brand new and worked out a lot cheaper than buying a new rim. Worth checking out.

For $2000 I could replace the wheel with an entire bike, Bolt the back end of her to where my front wheel currently resides and have a twin engine tandem motorcycle.
No idea what sort of crazy counter-steering would happen when hitting a corner though.....(though someone will no doubt tell us)

Insurance is for less arrogant more sensible people.
I have my own system going, I call it "I dare shit to go wrong"
I insure nothing, I throw away warranties and proof of purchase, I never keep records, do the paperwork or pay any fees.
I stand before everything that can fuck with me and I go " I fuckin dare you to fuck with me motherfucker"
So far its been a massive fail.

+1. Ran over a rock that flicked off the back of a truck near Bulls and these guys repaired the front wheel of my TRX and made it look brand new. Ended up sending the rear wheel up for a repaint and they got me a new cush drive as part of the job.
They repaired my front wheel for under $200 including paint.

Wheel and Frame sorted my KTM front wheel, when it had a massive buckle in it. $400-500 to fix, and its a Marchesini rim. They saw you coming though. Even the KTM rim is only about a grand. Marchesini, light weight etc.

Also, being a triumph, it will take about four months to ship the part from the UK.
(A mate had to wait that long for his Sprint's parts to arrive...):shit:

How does a tank bag made in Thailand by a 4 year old chained to a bench compare to a wheel? Lifestyle accessories are always in plentiful supply. Actual motorcycle parts inventory is a different story.

Yeah, but it's not all doom & gloom. 86GSXR killed his Tiger rim 3rd December, new rim ordered and back on the road before Xmas.

Took triumph NZ three months to get a couple of bits of plastic for my Trumpet. Don't bother with them anymore, places like British Customs in the USA tend to be able to supply much faster and often for a better price.

Don't suppose you have a pic of the rim before repair? May be good for future reference.
