I thought the safety precautions couldn't get any better after the mud, but the concrete proved me wrong

not that clever. i did this 20 years ago on the back of a convex security mirror by sticking 1000 disco ball mirrors to it.
the problem with that is that it has a fixed length focal point - anything in the reflection outside of the focal point will just get really bright light. i'd be more interested in seeing someone develop a focussable length concave reflector, as with a shallow concave, the less energy is produced, and with a deep concave, the focal length is really short unless the mirror is enormous.
In the Nevada desert there are 1000's of these pointing at big water silos turning water to steam and developing electricity in the cleanest closed loop system you will ever get. Water is superheated under pressure, stored below ground, and when the pressure is released into the turbine creates superheated steam to drive them - once it is used, it returns to water and is re-heated for use again.

So as long as its shining, we can beat the aliens that invade earth?Only if ya can get the Aliens to stand still close enough to the focal point LOL. Might be good for Solar Powered spot wielding & cutting on Sunny days though:yes:

What he needs to do now is to put a lens near the focal point so that it's turned into a beam instead of a point. But good luck doing that without breaking the lens.

Nah thats a just a concave mirror. I use one at school great fun setting things on fire.
A really cool death ray is HERE (http://www.instructables.com/id/Giant-Fresnel-Lens-Deathray-An-Experiment-in-Opti/)
