Accommodation down South

Ok, so on the last day of 2010 i had money burning a hole in my pocket so bought an 07 Cb1300 "armstrecher"...............AWESOME bike. made it more so with a Power Commander, air box mod and timing sprocket too and now is even more awesome.......
At the end of march Im taking leave to do a 2 week South Island trip on my own (im single :)) and want o basicaly go down the West coast and up the middle/east coast. I have a friend In Dunnies and Ch/ch but need to know where clean and cheap places are to stay at say Westport, Greymouth and further South? Invercargill too as I have never been there. (only been in NZ for 10 years today actualy so give me a chance :) haha
If you know some one that has a bed at there place for a few bob a night i would love to meet new people and of course pay my way. Meals not needed as i will be overdosed on HONDA power and sound..............really low key sort of places where i can get to chat to locals etc.

Fox township on the West coast is a good spot, there is a camping ground there that is quite cheap, the town is cool & the pub isn't too bad either.
