Bloody trademe auction squeezed a few dollars more out of me than i intended to spend, but the result is I have happily just purchased a zx4 to use as a daily runner. :woohoo:

The interesting thing now is the logistics of taking possession of it. Since I'm in Wellington and the bikes in Howick, it's either a road trip or a transporter. Ok so that's an easy decision, the bigger problem is getting there on a budget when what I was meant to have kept aside for a flight having already been spent on the bike.

To my point then. Can anyone help? I'm thinking a ride to Auckland on Thurs/Fri if anyone is going that way would be the nuts, or maybe you know a friendly truckie who wouldn't mind the company (gas money/lunch or dinner my shout of course). Alternatively is there any way of getting a cheap flight/bus/train I'd love to know about?

I'm also keen to catch up with some northern KB cuzzies for a bit of a spin, lunch or a coffee if we can work it in.

Ahh the joys of impulse buying.

Anyway, ideas appreciated.

Try PBT (Lief Blair Transport) or Lockleys. I'm not sure about the post trucks but you could try Dave Gorrie or Chris Johnson. Lockleys and PBT go right through to Auck while the others do a swap at Turangi so would need to ask two drivers.
Just don't mention my name or you might end up getting dropped somewhere:innocent:

Take the train over the bus, that one I'll give you for free.

I'm off work for the week and not far from Chowick - if I can be of any assistance let me know via pm.

Seconding both Naked Bus and the train; bus is quicker (I think it's about 8-9hrs), though the train is more comfortable by far...

Mission accomplished!

A Huge thanks to everyone who helped out making the trip a success, with special mentions for Mattathm, Madness, and Grubber. You guys were frikkin' awesome, and it never would have come together without you.

I'll write up a decent report tomorrow when I've got a few minutes, after some of the aches and pains subside. Fair to say it aint a touring bike!
