Found a couple of photos of Rod Dunshea on the Auckland Motorcycles Ducati 750 Sport, at Pukekohe. I think this may have been the only time this bike was raced. If memory serves me, it was the first Sport in the country and was delivered with a bikini fairing, which they had to remove before they could race it as a production bike. Never seen one on a Sport, since. I think Rod used to normally race the Egli-Vincent.
When was this - December 1973 or a bit later - Jan-Feb 1974? Check out the flash work boots with masking tape holding the sole on......

Also a (out of focus) pic of a Benelli 650 at the same meeting - I had a screen from one of these on my GT750...interesting the Benelli could run his screen but the Ducati couldn't run it's fairing

I was talking to Rod Dunshea today....advice on how to get the Egli to stop...

I believe the only footwear he owns is a pair of race boots.

there was a genuine Imola 750 complete with silver fairing and high/low pipes in the country at one time.
I saw it being tested at Ruapuna but never saw it at a race meeting...
It was being tended to by a couple of well known car guys but I didn't know the rider at all.
I heard many years later that it was sold back to Australia.
I assume it was one of the two ex factory bikes that went to OZ after the Imola meeting.

Ther was a green frame SS in Upper Hutt in the mid 70s. Grant Smith had it - bought a 750GT when they came out, then ordered the SS as soon as they were announced. Took ages to arrive but was worth the wait. Don't know what became of the bike, Smithie ended up in Sydney.
