Funny, last time I said that , I got arrested.
What I want to know, is who amongst us, would rather biff it, than be the one the fast guys wait for.
It's reletively simple, do you...
1. Ride the wheels off your bike, take silly risks, and make a general arse of yourself in the interest of being first.
2. Make sure you stay hard on the tailend of him in front, no matter how far you have to push to stay there.
3. Try and keep up, but know when you are out classed, and when to back off.
4. Couldn't give a shit who gets there first, as long as you get there.
Now it is obvious to me, that no. 4 is gonna get hit more than the rest, but be honest.

Depends on whos in front. Normally I give it a nudge etc, but if your sorry arse is in front then all bets are off, it's win at all costs. Not having no Chris Cornell lookalike beat me.

I always like to ride as fast as I possibly can..... I only use the apex as my guideline on how fast to approach a corner...don't care much for road signs or tailights infront of me.
If the chaps I'm riding with are faster than me then they'll be somewhere infront...
If they are slower than me then they'll be behind somewhere....
If we are equally fast then I'll try and stay around 2 seconds behind.....or give them about a few seconds lead and keep behind them - as that way we maintain a safe distance like bout 5-7 seconds between us.

None of the above.
I ride as hard and fast as the bike I'm riding, the road I'm on and the mood I'm in allows - and don't gave a rat's arse about how anyone else rides, as long as they stay out of my way.

I ride at my own pace though sometimes I'm tempted to try to keep up but usually have to drop back to my pace again. Well I thinks to meself, let them play in their own sandpit if they want to. I ride for enjoyment of it now.

It's nice to have another sex related poll on the site. :buggerd: Unfortunately I tend to get there first, to the disapointment of the good lady  .............

Try to take it steady nowadays but the right hand still twitches when some guy in a rush tries to pass. Tootling along at what I thought was a good pace on Sunday. Heard the blast of a horn behind. Looked in the mirror and there's some bastard behind waving me out of the way. Showed him what Triumphs are made of. Dropped it down a gear and blasted away. Left him for dead. He caught up at the next lights and really tore a strip off me, called me a bloody hooligan. Left him there in the middle of the road waving his walking stick and cursing. The battery on his mobility scooter had run flat. Serves the old bastard right. Shouldn't try to take on us young uns.

#3, but that's more because if if I don't everyone will have left before I get to the next rest stop. In Tim 'the toolman' taylor tradition, "need more power".

Given what I ride I'm not really in contention for any street racing, but if someone in front has a pace I like I may stick with them - I kinda like seeing them keep looking in their mirror wondering why a dirt bike is still on their arse...but I'm on a totaly different game plan as far as tyres and handling goes and very much know when to back out of it.

I know what WT would pick for this... I'd say I would pick number 2 most likely, however on some days I would pick either number 1 or 3.

I'm a sporty cruiser type. I generally like to take things moderatley slow compared to the 'real' sports bikers out there. I would rather take the view in and enjoy the overall thrill of riding while minimising the risks associated with enjoying my hobby. Although on the rare occassion I do push it a bit harder.

3. I don't like to be in front, by hate being left behind (especially if I don't know where we are going). Anyone who has ridden with me will know I have 2 main modes:
Mode 1: Going hell for leather at a pace that the upper end of my comfit zone trying to stick with the leading bikes (the vacuum effect).
Mode 2: Knowing that I'm way out classed, not wanting to take the same risks, and/or have lost my mojo, travelling at a brisk crusing pace and waving on those riders that are up my arse to pass.
I will change between these modes on faster rides depending on what my "gut feeling vibes" are. So far the "vibes" have served me well, but there are times that I could do with shutting that "vacuum effect" off and not allow myself to get "sucked along" at a pace nearing the upper eneds of my abilities.

Yup ...agree with you there ....I dont really ride on the road anymore ,,its a pain ,,and not fun around tokyo ,,, BUT ,,,MX ,,, different story ,,,I nail the bastard ....flogg the poor b#tch untill either I or the bike cries enough ...
From the drop ,,,I go as hard as I can ,,,,and block all I can ....cos lurking behind me are 16 yr old with thier balls in the toolbox,,, and they do and will come past me like I am going backwards ...( AND the little SH%$%& wave to thier friends in the middle of jumps lap after lap..)
I cling onto dear life ,,,hoping my heart doesnt stop .....begging the race director to show the checkered flag ,,,,

Mostly nowadays I'm going with 3...but on the odd occasion #1 is it.
Only a few short years ago it would have been the other way round....... :weird:
I am #4, no need to impress or to keep up with anyone, I ride motorcycles for my own enjoyment!
Heading of this thread sounds like fizzer is going to show his "pole"....hehehehe :motu:

if riding in good conditions i will always push as hard as possible to beat the person ahead of me but, i try to keep in mind the point where i start to a bit ragged. thats when i back off, no point in crashing to beat a mate.
this is something that i have learnt the hard way after a couple of good lessons.
