Went to buy a clamp to find they are asking $80-$90 for them.
Don't particularly want to fork out those kind of $'s for something I'm probably never going to use again.
I'd much rather flick someone some beer for a loaner.

I've got one in storage in Pram.
I'll dig it out on the weekend and drop it on for ya on the way back.

Damn Hawkeye you drive a hard (free) bargain. Ok - you can borrow my valve clamp and I'll throw in a free woman with the deal - ok?

Apparently scientists are still trying to invent one strong enough to keep the mouth shut  apparently a woman's ability to open bank accounts is about as strong

If I have to take the women then I'll just go buy a clamp. Women are too much trouble.....and cost a lot more..:innocent:
Are you going on the TWWNCR tonight? If you are then I can grab it then. If not, flick me an address in a PM and I'll call and pick it up

Ok. So the clamp that Dave kindly loaned me doesn't fit.
Apparently I need one that has an extension on the spring end which allows it to go inside a recess where the springs are.
The first pic is of one similar to Daves. The second is similar to what I need.
Anyone in the Welly region got something....

Bugger! Kenny - I think Paul is probably your best bet. IF I remember correctly - if he doesn't have it - you'll never need one.

I made my own attachment to a clamp which is similar.
Got an alloy tube and cut slots in it. Then used a magnet to prize the colletts out of the valve. Worked a treat as long as I didn't bump it.

Yeah! I had thought of that method myself. If no one has a clamp available, I may just have to revert to that method.

Mine does not have the extension - I usually make something up to suit. Just be careful when you compress it that it does not all collapse n shoot sideways.
If all else failed, we just used to stick something under the valve to hold it closed and push either side of the valve spring with 2 x wooden hammer handles while a mate flicked out the collets - try it, you might be surprised...

Notice the "mate flick out the collets". It's always good when someone elses fingers are at risk

As Vyvyan from the Young Ones would say:
"Yeah, I was a bit worried about that, so I had all mine kicked out before I came round."
