Planning for the TT2000, and I just can't find a GPS time for Jacksons to Yaldhurst. As this is the critical final leg of the ride I would like to get a better idea of the actual time at a good pace (not racing) from Jacksons to Yaldhurst at night.
I do recall on a 1000 miler stopping in Greymouth at 9:20 pm and being at Rolleston before midnight, but I can't remember how much before.
Also an estimated time from Kumara Jct - Greymouth - Brunner - Jacksons would be handy.

I have one GPS log which shows
Blackball 10:45
Jacksons 11:39
Yaldhurst 14:26
In the daytime, on a borrowed bike, in winter, being generally legal
I imagine a Greymouth start would be about the same

Thanks Jim, But I guess you must have stopped along the way. Almost 3 hours for 167 km seems just a tad slow.
Gremlin, I have tracks for everything you covered. Its still that one section from Jackson's to Yaldhurst that's missing.

.
Hey I never claimed to be fast :)
But you are right, there was about an hour in the Bealey pub
The only other stop I can recall was 5 - 10 minutes for fuel in Moana.
And there was a lot of grit and snow on the road
TW its a bit further than 167km - the AA distance calculator shows Greymouth to Chch as 258km - with a 3 hr 40 travel time

probably about 1hr 45, but you probably want a bit more exact than that? Can be lots of roadworks through there too, a couple of slow areas when I headed to Woodstock. Springfield had a fairly lengthy piece of shingle too.

Google maps reckons 2hrs 1min, sounds about right. From the airport it takes me less than 3 hours to hokitika in the car.

If it is any use to you last Saturday, warm, dry, norwest tail wind, no GPS but bikes speedo and clock along with paper and pen I recorded 58 km Brunner Mine to Jacksons 38 mins maybe 91k/hr average, Jacksons to home, Swanannoa, 175 km in 1 hour and 55 mins also around 91k/h. Included a brief stop at Jacksons corner to record time and distance and a stop at Lake Lindon for a drink and to remove some clothes. I ride a TDM 900 as a "mature" rider, Authurs Pass definitley at the 50k speed limit, no sigificant road works, cannot comment on section from Sheifield to Yaldurst. Stuff all traffic.
