Hey guys,
So I did a piston and rings on my CR250 about 10hrs ago, run it in and it was fine. Last night at ardmore the bike was really struggling. It kinda felt like it did before i did the top end. Struggling for power in the bottom end, still kicked really hard in the top end but down low it just seemed like it was struggling.
Thinking I will probably have to rip the bike down again but is there any chance its not the piston/rings etc? Had a mate suggest it may be the reed block.

Could be a carb problem.

Yeah feels like it could be fuel. Will try rip it down tonight, a bit hard to diagnose when I don't know what to look for though

Start with a good carb clean and make sure you check all the jets and check your needle for any signs of wear.
If you still get no luck give me a pm and I'll point you in the direction of a shop that can help. One good thing about going to see bike shops all the time is you know what they all specialise in.

check your reeds, and also check the power valve is opening & closing freely, then using the technique in the manual, test the power valve servo

+1. Sounds like the P valves may be stuck in the 'full open' position??

Power valve / RC valve? Sorry Sam I'm not up to the play with these simplistic engines haha (be it engines in general, I'm just stoked I can do a piston on em)

Like the others have said, no low down but fine up top is probably the Power valve stuck in the wide opened position.
Place your bets!

Possibly the reeds, but the cable is really easy to check. Start with that.

My gsxr250 sounds like its doing the same thing. Works fine while warming up heaps of go up high but then will often bog down from a stationary start or especially a hill start.... I cant do a hill start at all at the moment.... The only thing thats changed since it was last running good was i put a tank of 91 in instead of 96. Would be very interested in what you do to fix yours and if anyone has any ideas on mine...

Haha correcto!!!!
One look at the cable and it was all bent and contorted. My radiator is so bend it moved the cable mounting part and everything was sitting crooked like Forest Gump's legs.
Sorted, fingers crossed it makes the difference.
Thanks ALL!

Cool. Glad it was an easy fix. Go get your radiators fixed.
