I have an chance to score a 1998 KLX-300 for A partial swap (worth about $200) and $1k cash. The story with it is a mechanic I know had it ready to sell retail for a certain amount. Some one said that they were taking it and borrowed it for a trail ride. It then got dropped back after being dropped and he wouldn't pay for it. AFAIK the damage is plastics, headlight subframe bent and a broken clutch lever. Pretty sure I will go ahead with the deal, what I really want to know is are they any good? I know mechanicaly it will be sound and I will ride it before taking it.

not a bad trail bike, not fast but will go anywhere any other bike will.

Not sure which year(s) has trouble starting when it gets dropped.

Funny you mention that. I think it is the 98. There is a cold air mod you can do.
